i get 60 solid fps in max payne with everything on high at 1024x768, which is really really strange cause i only get 20-30 with the same settings in 3dmark

3D mark is crap... if the game runs smoothly why get more expensive s*** to up your frame count that you cant see? theres no point, the human eye can only distinguish up to a certain fps anyway, all ur money did is change the little fps counter in the corner, u'll never notice a difference

i cant notice any diffrence between 125 fps and 300fps, so i only want 125fps which i get in most games. as games get more graphically (spelling) advance we need better hardware to keep up. just because your stuck with a celeron 400 and a gf2mx 200 dont be such a downer on the rest of us who can afford to have a more enjoyable gameing experience.

as for 3dmark, i know its crap i only use it to bench mark my pc against other pcs. i was just saying how i get better frames in an actuall game that uses the same hardware then i do in 3dmark

Did your doctor also tell you, you cant tell the difference between 40 fps and 125 fps?

if you can, you have some unique freak of nature ability to see frames faster then the average human, cause the average eye can only register 35 fps

i play games on this perfectly fine, so it may chug occasionally, but im happy with this it works fine for me, i wouldnt knock back a new CPU/mobo or video card if it was free, but this serves fine for all my gaming needs atm, usually DOD which runs smooth enuf, Q3 runs ok as well, not super dooper, but its easily playable

sorry its just that used to be axis' catch cry, there was a long winded debate about 30fps, run a search for it via the search for news box and read the stuff that was being debated...some of it was actually good reading :p

i know the human eye can only see 30fps. but my gf cant handle certain situations say 5 rockets and 5 ppl on the screen my fps will drop down heaps. so i want 125 fps always just to make sure my card will not drop down past 30fps in times of need

i think Loki wins with his marvelous PII 266 + 2 Voodoo 2's SLI'ed and how much ram? 256?
Loki

too generous... only 128 mb ram =D

u think I was joking when I said I play doom2?

As if doom2 wasnt the game of all games =)

Acrylic - yeah understandable.. but u coulda said u cant tell the diff between 60 - 300 =)

No argument here, its a very good reason to have extra fps, fer times of need

the only reason i buy nvidia is because of there constant driver updates. which can be a good and a bad thing in some ways. but i guess its better then haveing some card that doesnt even have xp drivers yet.
