I just received a call from EB to say that I can pick up my pre-order of Quake Wars.

Yeah I'm not sure if I'm going to play this anyway, might get cash back if I can.

Is this pretty much every et/quake players thoughts? I guess Splash Damage are happy if they win over the Battlefield s***kunts and lose the quakers anyway.

As someone who likes both Quake and Battlefield, I can say with reasonable confidence that this game will not be as popular as either. I could be wrong, but I find it very hard to see this being more popular than the Battlefield series.

i didn't really like the demo... even when i got to play it on a system that ran it smooth. i will prolly give the full version a go just to see what the other levels & missions are like... but it's the guns that s*** me in et:qw. i fkn hate that jittery machinegun bulls*** where it jerks all over the shop & everytime i go the rocket launcher guy i end up screaming 'FIRE DAMN U!@#!' with it's s***ty fire delay.
also... f*** any game where you have to wait to spawn. it's a fukn game & i'm not fkn waiting !@#$&!^@& :P |

What a bunch of f***ing whingers.
It's fun. It's got polish. It's very well tested. It handles a massive range of system specs. It promotes team play. Sure TF2 is fun as well but most of you whingers have played the beta and then the demo and you're bored with it. I think splash damage has done a brilliant job.. there's less bugs in this entire f***ing game than ANY of the battlefield series games had in their menu alone ffs. |

Yeah I moderately enjoyed the beta, didn't bother with the demo as I got over it. I played about 15 hours of it all up and bored.
Another vote for TF2. |

I didn't pick up my copy and instead asked for my cash back. They had no problem giving it back. I'm from the Quake generation and never enjoyed CS, BF1942 etc and its just to slow for my taste.

Well, I ended up going and picking it up. The game is fun enough to earn its place on my HD. I ended up playing through a bunch of the new maps today. The game has tons of polish and is so different to TF2 that I'm glad I got it. So, I guess its not one or the other for me, its both :)
Having seen Crysis, I know ETQW is a better buy IMHO. |

anyone know if this is coming to Steam like the demo did?
I'd sooner download it and avoid the 'plz insert cd' scenario if that's still the go |

Doesn't need a disc in the drive to play. Games like this have little need for copy protection, since the meat of the game is online play and you don't get that without a key.
Anyways, review thread is here so I'm closing this one. http://qgl.ausforums.com/?agn=thread&id=2558110 |
