I've gotten a new monitor (borrowed). It's a Benq FP937s, according to what's on the front of it.

Everything is perfectly normal, except when I play video it's really, really dark. I just noticed it again with the new TF2 trailer - when I change monitor brightness the video brightness is unaffected, but the rest of the Windows display changes.

Anyone seen this before?

What graphics card have you got?

With nvidia + classic control panel, you can adjust the Overlay brightness which affects videos (but not the rest of the desktop). Like so:

(Edit: Image fixed)

could it be a video overlay setting? we had to reinstall windows on my dads new box yesterday and for some reason the video overlay for movies defaulted to black and white, which doesn't make for very good viewing, an install of the latest video card drivers seemed to fix it.
