Documentary


An interesting documentary that a student has thrown together to highlight ethical issues with a study a student has done at QUT Kelvin Grove. The study was titled "Laughing at the Disabled" until it was changed to "Laughing with the disabled".

The study and it's findings were shown publicly to the faculty of the university at which point a few lecturers voiced there opinions on the absurdity of the study. Due to the lecturers voicing there opinions they've recently been suspended without pay.

Don't know if this is the full story but kinda crappy if it is.

Could it be worse than The Ringer movie by Johnny Knoxville of Jackass fame?

This storm seems like a bunch of uppities with poles up their badonkadonks objecting on principle as a knee jerk reaction to hearing biased commentary about the matter on national radio stations.

Why shouldn't a minority group be ridiculed? It just leads to a greater understanding of what they're really all about and how they intertwine with society at the end of play...

The laughing at the disabled isn't a student doco it's a study done by a student who is currently doing a PhD. The documentary is the video on YouTube it was made by a student to bring the issue to light.

This smacks of beaurocracy and political correctness gone too far. Somebody should be able to call their thesis whatever the bloody hell they want (as long as the university approves), and acadameics should be able to voice their opinions as long as it doesn't violate privacy laws.

Asif you would goto a uni cause someone else thinks it's top s***. Being smart, all of us would be going to a uni that is offering us a course that we want to do in an environment that we would get most out of.

i reckon these guys deserved to be suspended for being juvenile f***wits. from what i've read about this it seems that the complainers had a personal issue with the thesis advisor and decided to use the thesis as a way of stirring s***.
