So I only got back from a two week trip to NZ last week and when I was there was driving down the freeway and noticed this mini-van parked in the middle of the road ... paying no attention to it I raced past it at 120km not thinking any of it ... next minute FLASH ... wtf ... Luckily there was a car in front of me that got the flash first ... apparently they hire random civilians with certain mini-vans to do their radar catching duties ... how forked is that!!!

That's not forked at all, good way of catching people who break the law imo.

I agree, theres always a olive colored police landcruiser that does the rounds where i live and after a while you can spot it from a mile away. I think it's a good idea.

It is a really really good idea. They subcontract their speed cameras out to civilians and give them a percentage of the revenue. It means less cops wasting time in a van doing nothing for 8 hours straight, and more of them doing more important things like pulling kids over for their cars being too low to the ground, and the like -_- |

Dosent some state in AU put them in wheelie binsYeah I'd heard that a while ago too and Queensland was supposedly going to be trialling it, but never heard anything about it after that. |

Dosent some state in AU put them in wheelie bins I believe it's the UK. I think I read a story about some dude who went around with a high-powered air rifle (is there such a thing?) shooting the crap out of everyones wheelie bins trying to destroy the cameras. |

Dosent some state in AU put them in wheelie bins Yep I was told while I was in VIC that they do it although I never saw one in action. I thought people there were just pulling my leg just to get back at me for living in a better place. |

Violence of the lambs would've been a better movie title.
