I have watched online videos of Muslims cutting the heads off live human beings, and to be honest, they probably squirmed as much as those dolphins. However, we shudder at images like these poor dolphins, and then go and wrap our lips around the meat cut off some poor defenceless cow.

Human beings have, and always will, display bad human behaviour. Go back several hundred, or even thousands of years, and brutality is a way of life. Rape, Pillage and Plunder was the Norm. My grandfather spent 4 years in Changi prison in WWII, and some of the stories he told me about what the Japanese done to them would turn your stomach. Seafood is the way of life for the Japanese, just the same as cows or chickens are to the western way of life. Saying that, there are cultures that won't eat cows and chickens because they are sacred. The only thing that I saw wrong was that it was probably a little inhumane when compared with modern standards. Go back a couple of hundred, and we would have probably clubbed a cow to death just so we could drag it to a tree, hang it up, and cut its throat to bleed. Such is life, get over it.

I've studied Japanese language and culture for 9 years now, so I'm somewhat sympathetic, but that's f***ed. DRAGGING an animal along the ground then stabbing it in the throat so innacurately so it's not a quick death, but it has time to spasm around and make noise, is cruel.

How is this any different to a fisherman on a beach cutting a fishes head back to bleed it? Its what you must do to preserve the highest quality possible for most fish and I assume dolphin is no different. (I mean sure its a mammal but the principle is the same)

I think that some of what they did was needlessly harsh, dragging the dolphins up the road like that was pretty f***ed, just as screwing up the slaughter and having it need a second go was sloppy. I dont see you boycotting your local fish and chip shop becuase they sell fish that was picked up in a giant ass net, possibly suffocated or at least snap frozen to death :O For some reason with size you see humanity in these animals. On a day to day basis things just like this happen to animals in food preperation throughout Australia, whether its driving a knife through the head of a crab or dropping some lobster into boiling water or bleeding a fish; they are still animals and they must die for us to enjoy their delicious muscle and im sure you have all at some stage in your life eaten. Reducing the length of an animals suffering is important, it shows respect to life which is part of what sets us apart from other animals but at the same time, they must die to be eaten and if you are going to use a reference frame of humans cutting off the heads of other humans, how is a painless slaughter followed by disection and being eaten any better as far as the animal is concerned. Being honest with yourself, it is becuase they are animals and they dont share the same rights as we do, they exist to be killed and eaten and we exist to kill and eat them.

Yeah I read up on halal recently, and it's not as stupidly ridiculous as kosher is.
