I've seen one on Fox where a guy is in like hospital pj's and he's telling the Mac guy he is going in for an upgrade (surgical analogy), like he is an aprehensive patient. The Mac guys tries to console him but then the PC guy starts to tell him about all the things that are needed (like faster CPU, upgrades to memory and power ect..ect..) and then there is no gurantee that 'it will work'. The mac guy pats him on the back and wishes him good luck. Its done very well and the two actors do a pretty good job, but it is a bit smug from the Apple camp nonetheless.

hehe thats the two guys up there ^^ doh, didnt even eatch that before posting. silly me..they are good hey?

PC's are for 40 year old nerds and macs are for hip and cool c***s, even though that c*** always plays loser f***s in F grade Hollywood movies like dodgeball.

they were being aired furiously on the day that vista was launched...

Why? because I hate a television advertisement of people trying to market more s*** to the ignorant masses? Assuming their view on reality is comparable to mine or their target audience? Trying to be funny to hock a product? They f***ing fail. It's not funny, and it's not cool.

I could think of much better reasons why I should top myself, but I'm not that way inclined I'm afraid. Have far too much to live for, and far too much happiness in my life. Regardless of my occasional rant posts on an internet gaming forum, which I might add, are for my own amusement, and mean f*** all to me, my life, or anyone in my life.

The only mac ad worth a toss is the drugged up ellen feiss one.

edit: Come to think of it, I think I'll make my next upgrade a mac, just so I can avoid vista.

Gimpy is right though.

These adds while mildly amusing are preaching and praying on an ignorant consumer. Just like their iPod.

we're talking about Americans here... look how they're pwning themselves with Walmart...

has anyone here who owns a Mac actually bothered to load up a *nix distro to see how it runs? that's pretty much the only reason I can come up with for aquiring one atm

I agree hdd ipods are a scam because of apples f*** you support policy, but the new solid state shuffle is cheap and you could only break it by intending to break it..

that's a positive response I guess...

I was hoping to hear a "I've run up a *nix distro with codega and I can't see myself buying a Mac over a pc ever again biatch" kind of response.

I guess I'll keep Googling just to be sure

Isn't that what the advertising and marketing industry is all about? Assessing a target audience and taking advantage of the consumer?

All advertising prays on ignorance, its not about educating the consumer on the finer points of their product in comparison to someone else's and providing a balanced evaluation, its about catching attention and promoting a brand name in the hope that it will be remembered the next time someone wants to go out and spend some money. And in this way, they are an example of completely effective marketing, as we are all here talking about it now.

If you want to attack immoral advertising then look no further than the trends for child targeted advertising, and the time slots they so cunningly chose to run them.

Well by definition anybody who owns a Mac that is less than 4 years old has loaded up a *nix distro on it. And yes... it runs quite well.

Thats pretty accurate, however there are companies out there that truely believe their product is superior and also advertise accordingly.

These ads really only appeals to MAC users, and probably is serving as a retention tool more than anything.

I'm not a mac user, don't intend to ever be a mac user, but I love these ads. They're not going to make me rush out and buy a mac, but they give me a laugh, and yeah the Vista one is really well done, easily my favourite.

Actually, I reckon the mac ads that pay out on Vista are much better than the ads for Vista itself. Those ads are just stupid. Not that I hate Vista or anything, I'll probably get it when I finally get my PC down here, but Apple still makes better ads.
