No no no no no
Its a s***haus connection, I'm already VNC'ing to it But its unusable at the resolution its running, so I want to change the resolution back down to 640x480, then VNC will be fine I need a program to change the resolution, not remote view |

Resolution is stored in the user profile I believe - remotely edit the registry key which reflects what it should be. No idea what it is though.

Why can't you just access the screen properties and change the resolution that way if you are already VNC'ing it?

Because the connection is so slow that at 1024x768 it takes minutes just to load the initial screen, if I was to do it that way, by the time I changed the resolution, I would have to reconnect to click OK accept these settings, and the connection would time out before that would be possible.

10.x.x.x means its on your lan and its still a dodge connection? if its on your lan.. get something like dameware utilities or just use the XP RDP to connect. dameware is nice cause you can control everything remotely. |

Yeah I have tried it, its mainly the time factor because we've got about 200 sites with the same problem

Change "HKCC\Display\Settings\Resolution" to any of "1024,768" or "800,600" or "640,480" etc., and force reboot.
This tool worked well for mass registry updates from memory if you don't have decent logon scripting going. http://www.eytcheson.com/ |

Use multires: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/multires.shtm
...and psexec: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/PsExec.html For ease, copy multires.exe to the system root on the machine, and then... Note that this will work most easily if the PC is logged on (not at the logon or locked screen), e.g. execute psexec against the machine first and username and password if needed, psexec \\10.x.x.x cmd -u Administrator -p mYpAssWorD[ENTER], %SystemRoot%\multires.exe /1:640,480,32 /exit [ENTER] If the PC is at the logon (or locked) screen you will need to use something like: psexec.exe -x %SystemRoot%\multires.exe /1:640,480,32 /exit |

Creepy had it, just RDC to it with a lower res set, dont you have RDC enabled?
You can enabled rdc remotely through the registry. |
