Here is the highway patrol police car that pulled me over and slapped me with a $225/0 point fine today for having a radar detector:

I thought the photo turned out quite nice though

nice
id drive a ba over a monaro any day (sorry peter)

wifey got one of the monaro cop cars pulling her up for crossing a double line on the freeway (into the transit lane)

was nice of the policeman to only do her for that, coz she was going very fast just before it as well, but he overlooked it

So maybe I have to ask, why do you have a radar detector in the first place. Don't break the f***ing law and you won't have the problem in the first place.

Really I wish they'd just take off demerit point for people having devices designed to only allow themselves to get away with breaking the law.

How did they know (do radar detector detectors exist or was it just a random search)?

It was really stupid the way i got caught, my gf was taking photos of random stuff, and we saw the car on the side of the road, so i drove beside it and she took a photo, then it started driving up beside us and she took the one i posted, and while doing that he got close enough to the car to see the radar detector mounted on the dash :s, he didnt even use a radar detector detector / or detector dectector detector detector

the worst part is, i was only testing it because i was suspicious that it was already f***ed from when i lent it to some people for a while.. and it is

who cares about the fine, your parents will pay it anyway
coincidently its my birthday tomorrow and mum said shed pay it for me

I wish he booked you for photographing him too
when he walked up to the car, he was first like '$5 per a photo mate'

you should be fined for not resizing the image.

I would say not, unless perhaps you use a flash & distract them & cause an accident. They could probably get you on dangerous driving if they really wanted, saying you can't possibly be concentrating on the road if you're taking a picture of them, unless a passenger took it.

I thought it was illegal... isn't it also illegal to video tape people without their permission?

If it's illegal to take pitctures of people and video tape them without their permission how the hell do the media take pictures & videos of everyone without their permission & not end up in jail?

Paparazzi aswell...

Granted in some places the use of a camera is restricted... Eg pools, some shopping centres, Live events like concerts etc, those restrictions would be in place for copyright reasons and media rights reasons interms of the concerts and privacy reasons in terms of the pool changing rooms and shopping centres i believe...

Teachers ain't allowed to take pictures of students at sporting events anymore.

They sometimes ask parents to sign releases, but unless every single student has one they cant take any pictures because they may catch a kid in a photo that doesn't have one.

There is a licence thing you can get to allow you to take pictures though... I'd assume people from the media would have this.
