Just heard on the radio that Peter Brock has died in a crash in a WA Rally.

Motor racing champion Peter Brock has reportedly been killed in an accident in Western Australia.

A car competing in the Targa West rally crashed into a tree at Gidgegannup about 30 kilometres north-east of Perth about 12pm, a Western Australia police spokesman told smh.com.au.

The car was carrying two people and one had died in the crash, he said.

The major crash investigation unit was at the scene, he said. Ambulances were not called.

The spokesman could not confirm the driver was Mr Brock, although that is being broadcast on Sky News.

My goodness, this like some national nightmare. R.I.P.

I recall watching a doco while ago, apparently on a final lap of a Bathurst 1000 he broke the lap record when he crossed the line to win in a Torana. Legend.

Just watched the aerial footage being broadcst over the dialogue on Fox34..man did he line imself up for the tree or what. The old rally saying of "a good driver always lines up his navigator for the tree" could not be more wrong here.

The Police accident guys were on the ground marking it out and its plan as to see he has got it sideways, straight off the bitumen and right into the tree with his drivers side door. Car is bent, and he must still be in it as they have that area covered with tarps ect..There is a big arse chunk of tree bark ripped right off from rood height right down to the ground.

Such a sad day, he was an awesome driver.

Damn terrorists knocked the whole month of September out of whack with their stupid September 11 attack. September is now the month of death~ Everyone should stay indoors for the next few weeks.

maybe the terrorist killed steve and peter.

I'm a FORD man always have been sie I was a little kid in the 70's with Moffet and Brocky going for it.

Brocky was No 1 on the FORD hate list but he was a great man and driver, RESPECT, R.I.P...
