Anyone have any idea how much bands/djs etc are paid to play at festivals such as the Big Day Out? I know there are a couple of people on here who work in the industry, is it a figure made public or is it kept under wraps? I am guessing, for instance, that the Livid festival here in Brisbane used to draw around 40000+ punters, multiplied by approx. $80 per ticket (in the later years) gives a ballpark figure of around $4 million. This doesn't seem much when you take into consideration all the equipment/personnnel/resources (such as advertsing etc). I know there are probably other avenues where festivals make money eg. drink sales, merchandising etc but at the end of the day would they really make much in the way of profits? I would have thought that some of the international acts would be paid in the tens of thousands (at least) to perform, given that they would have travel expenses and all the associated hoo-haa that accompanies a gig of this nature. Anyone have more info or would like to hazard a guess on this? |

i cant remember exact figures but it was somewhere around $6000 for Jimmy Z to play at rum jungle + travel expences and accomodation on top and he is just some nova f*****, so you might be able to gauge some sort of an idea from that.
