Being a gumpy on the topic is there any other software that will let me stream video ect. to my xbox360. I have sucessfully setup the media connect connection but that only lets me access pics and music off the PC. From what I can gather from the web it appears that I can only do it with a Windos Media PC prepared kit?
t/f? any help appreciated. |

From what I know, you have to run Media Center Edition of Windows to stream media. I haven't seen any software to let you stream via regular windows, but I remember someone talking about it once.

yeh its a bit sucky that I can stream music and access pictures wonderfully on the wireless network in the house direct from my PC, it surprises me that MS didnt include some kind of software ugrade for XP and for xbox360 owners, provided their hardware met some minimum specs. I am sure my hardware meets any specs they require to stream vid to my xbox. Ah well, anyway I fired up an account with Xbox live and am quite impressed with the performance, and it is a nice change relaxing back on the lounge with a beer to three and playing games on the HDTV. Having som pretend gambling in Texas Hold 'em at the mo, even tho I am not a guru on the gameplay ect..

They want everyone to buy Vista. THe stupid thing though is that you can't easily stream xvid, quicktime or divx movies...which basically makes the whole thing pretty pointless anyway.

As Trog was saying, you do need a Media Centre PC to stream music etc over to the Xbox 360. I recently installed a program called VLC 360 on the PC which enables me to stream xvid and divx and it works very well.

yeah I would love a non-media center way of streaming video to the 360 if anyone knows of one, or wants to make one :P
