Got this in my mail today, kind of bizarre (and maybe old):

Hugely ugly url.

Reckon you could drive a car without a steering wheel?

Excuse me, but does that rear end look exactly like a soarer to anyone else?

All throttle and brake controls on the centre stick and joystick for steering, it's a very aeronautical setup it seems.

No more foot peddles ftw :D

No gamer designed that so your email is incorrect.

Well, thanks for the heads up and all Mr All-Knowing, but neither I nor the email claimed it was designed by a gamer.

The point was that it would likely require a gamer or pilot to drive the thing, what with the whole joystick control bit?

Why is the joystick in the centre.

"Hey lets make a car where you have to lean over into the middle to be able to steer it!!"

What are you retards? Its not a joystick that moves around 360, it probably moves up and down to control the speed. Like an airplane.

Agent 99, your guess is as good as my s***.

As I said, interesting design, but I wouldn't be caught dead in it.

Your point is invalid and your giving up on an idea before its been given a chance.
If cars orinally came out in this concept(joystick) and they now started showing one with a wheel and pedals you'd be saying the same basic thing.
just need to get a joystick license class same as heavy vehicle, motorbike etc.

having said that it doesnt appeal to me in the slightest but I am greatful for those who try different concepts and generally trying to move forward giving tomorow more options
Tho I dont believe we will get joystick cars till cars can safely drive themselves.

the reason cars never came with a single control device is because of the mechanics of it

you needed 3 pedals and a shifter, and you needed a wheel in order to provide the leverage to turn the s***ty steering.

nowdays its getting to the point that the pedals no are no longer even directly linked (brakes and throttle are electronic in lots of new cars)

steering is directly linked but power assisted, but that could well change.

something like a joystick would be a lot more intuitive, i'd imagine.
