I cannot stop playing this demo... this would have to be the first time I have ever played a demo more than once!

Every aspect that we have been able to witness in the demo is fantastic.
The portals, the weapons, spirit walks... the best would have have to be the anti-gravity floors... f***en awesome!!! Not to mention the large "buttons" that change the whole rooms axis... this game is sure going to be one to beat.

..... off the play the demo again.

This thread is about Prey, not how often you masturbate to gay porn... lets try and stay on topic here.

As other people have mentioned, there's some very good gameplay ideas and elements in there, as well as some nice touches (the comments the protagonist makes when the player does something unexpected or unnecessary, and OMFGLOL when the 'close encounters' scene starts, the jukebox switches to 'Don't Fear the Reaper' by Blue Oyster Cult - classic).

I have to say however, there is a definate lack of polish and the quality of some of the content isn't up to the standard of what you'd expect from the best games, with some models and textures looking questionable (for example the LOD meshes for some of the models appear to have been generated by a program rather than hand modelled - it shows). The voice acting is at times melodramatic and some of the scenes feel archetypal and clichéd.

Still, it looks like this will be a pretty interesting gaming experience, I know I'll be playing it.

uhh you ok md? who's talking about phallic infatuation? Anyway, I thought the Prey demo was indeed a fresh breath of FPS style. My initial reaction was a sense of renewed vigor, something I haven't felt since Half Life, Deus Ex etc. Immersion is the name of the game, and Prey engages the player on an intellectual and interactive level that a number of recent FPS games have failed to deliver. That being said, the multiplayer component looks considerably unpolished though.

Downloaded this demo the other day.

Not overly impressed. It has some nice parts to it (like the room changing buttongs) but I am a bit over sci-fi shooters. They just become a little samey after a while.

Same, not impressed at all. It's Doom 3 with the lights on and a******s on the wall.

The "wall-walking" and gravity-shifting is a gimmick, restricted only to clearly-defined areas. The entire design is just sh*thouse, it looks like some crap perfect-circle fan16 year-olds sketchbook, and....yeah.

Only real thing I like is the "spirit realm" thing that stops you doing the quicksave dance.

Gets a bonus point for having Clutch on the jukebox, though :)
