do you mean those lines of plastic on top of the car on each side that go from front to back? on my girly astra you can slide it open in 4 places where you stick em in i think. if your car doesnt have that then f***s me.

Yeah, those black 'things'. I have never attempted to fiddle with them though so i don't know if or how they pop out (I have a girly elantra)
Do I need anything extra? Should I take them somewhere and get someone to do it? |

Are they new roof racks? If yes just go ask someone from where you got them.
If not, somewhere like Supercheap or Autobarn are usually pretty helpful if you just have some questions. If you lead them to believe there may be a sale at the end of it youre likely to have better help. |

I got them as hand me downs however they are new (bought them and then ended up selling the car straight away - kept roof racks) so I don't have a place of sale to fall back on.
Is there a website or something which can tell me if they will even fit? |

do they have a brandname on them? if so contact the manufacturer or one of their outlets and ask them for fixings for your make/model of car

Most racks for 'small cars' will have seperate fittings you can get for different make/models.
Who made the Racks? And what car we're they origonally bought for? |

3 Seconds of Google after I knew the brand name. Seriously, do people even use Google anymore? btw, Step 2 uses the 'Black lines' (Roof Rails) |

I don't have a 'roof rail'. The picture shows the 'roof rail' as something that isn't flush with the car roof, mine is.
Scooter, I googled earlier on today without knowing what brand they were and that didn't help me. I asked because guys on here seem to know what they are talking about and they may be able to help me out. |

Idk wtf picture your looking at, but the roof rails are clearly Flush with the car in the instructions I posted... The Close up in #3 might show it better for you.
You googled without the brand name eairler... Why? Google cant read you mind, you need to do at least a little ground work to refine a search. Lets say You wanted to get to Peets house. You could ask for his address then look that up in whereis, or you could just search for "Peets Address Australia". I'm sure that would get me far... Obviously the brand name wasn't that hard to look for as you found it pretty fast after Jim and I asked for it... |

Because I only just found the brand name about 10 mins ago and today at work i didn't have access to my garage! :o
In pictures 3 and 5 it shows the 'rail' on top of the car. Mine doesn't stick over the car. Mine are like this http://parramattahyundai.com.au/images/new-hyundai-sonata-2005-01.jpg |

Oh, Well they're not Roof Rails, they're Rain Gutters.
Edit: The only thing I can think of is artificial rails, which would usually require you to drill some holes in your car. I'm sure somewhere like Supercheap/Autobarn would have a better solution. last edited by Scooter at 20:24:15 25/May/06 |

Jim, do you know if Rhino can be bought in places like autobarn or supercheap? Or do you have to go to a dealer?

yeah autobarns I've seen definitely carry rhino gear, not sure about supercheap
also try 4wd outlets like ARB and TJM, TJM is where I got my rhino rack. I find autobarn tend to be a bit exxy also this page seems ok: http://www.rhinorack.com.au/retail.asp |
