wtf?^ you been drinking?

also another question what experiences have any of you had with them, like problems wise and such..

eg, ninjas jumping out of the screen & dragons burning the screen in on games..

Clint, that’s wrong man, my panel has a half life of 60,000 hours. That means I'll get a good 10 years out of it before I even have to begin to worry. So, in another 9 years, I'm sure I'll be ready for another upgrade.

I have a HD Panasonic, love it. Things to look for, check out how well the panel displays black, you don’t want hazy, solarized looking blacks. Also, check how well the panel displays diagonal lines. On bad panels, they appear jaggy, kind of like having no Ant aliasing turned on your puter.

If you’re happy with how it looks, and it’s backed by a good warrantee / support, go for it.

Just bought 2 of the Pioneer Plasma's for works new office.

The 43" and the 50".

After looking at alot of panels around that size regardless of price the Pioneers seemed to be pretty high quality to me, and the guy who installed all our Bose stereo gear said they are the panels he recommends.

If you really wanted to go LCD the Sharp 43" (maybe 42, i forget, but the product line was called aquarius or something similar) got highly recommended to us too.

Awesome shop called Sunnybank Hi Fi has alot of pretty high end gear for alot better prices then JB Hi Fi and the like too that we ended up getting them through.

see if you can grab a panasonic plasma 42" 500A for $2999 on runout sale, or the 50" for $4350.

They are clearing stocks for the new model 60A which are only marginally better, and you can get a really spectacular panel for a really good price atm.

i have the 500A 42" and its excellent. They are close to the pioneers pq wise, butat a much lower price

yea i bought that Soniq when it first appeared for 2K Oz. Obviously would have prefered an lcd, but for that price lcd just aren't quite big enough. very happy with it. the soniq is a samsung panel.... so the only difference is the speakers - but sif be using the televisions speakers anyway.

plasmas are great bang for buck atm.

You can pick up the sony 'S' series 40"(101cm) LCD for under $4000;
KLVS40A10 is the model number if you want to check it out..

There is also the 'V' series but they go for around 5k

ok after reading around for the last 3 hours it seems the panasonic a50 & a60 are the way to go for the best bang for buck.
For a rrp of 3g the new a60 can be had so that looks like the way il be going.

anyone here work at jb hi-fi? hehe

plasmas are the old waev. Its all about LCD. LCD + HDTV = hotness. Far hotter than any plasma.

eighty eight, you likely have the standard def 60A (there is a 50A but its also standard def and also on clearance) for RRP $2999.

Get a high def panel if you can. Curreny street prices for panasonics are

* 42" 50A SD panel (clearance) $2100
* 42" 60A SD panel $2700
* 42" 500A HD panel (clearance) $2900
* 42" 60A HD panel $3500

does anyone have the link to that site that had the TV "magic ratio"? where they told you the optimal size for the screen you need for the distance away fromt the screen you'll be?

Optimal Distance = 3x the diagonal measurement of the screen

burn in yes, life span, no. wrong

under $4000, u can get a HIGH DEF plasma, which for the money is better. but for gaming and hooking up to a computer, than an LCD is a much better choise as they are higher resolution adn don't burn in. even the high def plasma's are usually only 1024x1024 (not a typo), or there abouts, it's the 50" plasma's that are 1366x768, or any LCD above 23".

u can get heaps of 37", 40" and even some 42" LCDs for that money. the toshiba 42" is tasty, and comes with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty.

my $0.02
