I didn't know female vocals were computer generated especially when they are being played from an LP. go figure.

the room they were playing filled up and we got denied entrance at 3:30 :(

plus felix, tom novy and audio bullys all played the same songs
ive never heard that before

really? you think i give a s***? im sorry but its the choice he made and i have zero sympathy for people who obviously are too stupid to understand consequences of their own actions. dont be angry with me, be angry with your 'friend' who didnt have enough wisdom to see past the 'getting wasted' mentality and how it affects family and loved ones.

you know why im so pissed off? because its stories like this, rare as they are, that hype the media and continue the perception that dance music culture is drugs focused. too many times this exact same s*** goes down and not only is it a terrible waste of life, its a terrible f***ing waste of my time that has been spent promoting and pushing parts of the dance culture to third parties.

no one wants to be associated with this kind of situation, and when you already have a wider society that is too ignorant to understand just how isolated and unrelated this is to the majority of the dance community, it makes it so much harder to keep moving forward in the right direction.

if you candy ravers could see past your f***ing glowsticks you would understand there is so much at stake and so much to be lost when a kid at a rave dies as a result of drug intake.

way to blame hardcore/candy ravers for something that happens in any social scene in which people take drugs. goths take drugs. people who go to the family and the monastery take drugs. people who go to BDO and summafield and metal concerts take drugs.
in fact, in almost any subculture you can think of, people take drugs.
blaming it on the hardcore ravers only proves that you can't see past the glowsticks.
anyway, only the newbie ravers use glowsticks.

no s*** sherlock holmes, did you see me defending all those people? no you didnt. people who dont understand the risks involved and take drugs are f***ing idiots. i dont care what social circle you surround yourself in. however, the hardcore scene carries the stigma for drug use (or abuse?) far far more than any others.

obviously i'm going to respect the wishes someone who doesnt read past my 3rd line and proceeds to tell me i'm single minded, you hypocritical moron. i would think the single minded view on this incident is one where we all post "RIP :....(" without analysing the greater social consequences of one kid dying at a rave from a drug usage. so f*** you and get a clue.

Every one here knows my stance on drugs, and while I don't feel like getting on the angry abusing bandwagon atm, it was that kids choice to take the drugs, he had free will, no body forced him to take them and the result while is extremely unfortunate, is solely his.

It does seem though while something like this happens very rarely, people almost automatically associate the rave scene with drugs, and to be honest, the people I know who attend these things, are always on something. I think it's the media's fault though for taking these rare instances and beefing them up for the front pages to make it sound like it's an epidemic.

I don't think it's the medias fault at all, i don't know anyone who doesn't do drugs when going to raves and to be honest i have some stamina but i find it hard to believe no one would if they were there dancing for upwards of 6-7hrs straight.
I understand its a hard time for the family and friends and although i've tried recreational drugs before, alot of my friends still do it so i would be devastated if something happened to them, however i would be f***ing pissed off at them as well for taking them....

this kinda s*** happens all too often it's just alot of the time people are saved by ambo's..

I think it is all really very sad to hear. And I am sorry to hear about the loss or your friend German.

I also agree it is an issue of importance tho that needs to be discussed. Perhaps just not right now...

it is very sad to hear of his death but at the same time the dangers of drugs are well documented and publicised by government and health authorities.

one this basis one can only assume he chose to take the drugs in full knowledge of their danger - did he think they were good for him?

in which case it is sort of like the chickens coming home to roost. but the loss of youth is always very sad.

i used love the rave scene but the candy ravers got too annoying so i stopped going - never took the s*** myself though.

Sorry to hear anyway german.

I agree with cycosis to some extent though, cept on a much less angry level.
The number of people od'ing at raves and clubs is extremely tiny compared to the number of people that take pills. I so feel slightly less sympathy for someone who hurts themselves after taking 8 pills in one night than I do for the person than took just one bad pill and f***s out. It's a shame that the media focuses so negatively on it, but the loss of a life is definitely a terrible thing.

It's a shame that because of very rare incidents, people in society who are happy to drink themselves f***ed look at people who take pills and think they're better than they are.

From the way that german arched up i'd say he prolly didn't act with free will in mind.. peer pressure and the like, that'd be pretty sucky for his friends.. You know... Killing him and stuff by making him take the drugs...

Too many rumours... not enough facts...

Im not sure anyone can say yes what the cause of his death was.
I too knew him, but unfortunately didnt get to say hi that night :(

There is talk of pills, GHB, heart-attack, all sorts of s*** -- *shrug*

The newpaper is now onto hanging s*** on the organisers, and saying completely made up s*** as they do (ie. news article says the police were only informed of the event when the ambulance was called ... as f***ing if -- Harley will prove it Im sure)

these are the people i feel the most for, s*** man if something like this happened at one of my parties i would be absolutely devasted. not to mention all the hardwork the mayhem crew have done in the past...just really hard to rebuild something like a reputation when its been destroyed by the media

think before you party kids

He took the drugs, he knows the consequences, he obviously overdosed, from what i read in the newspaper of course ( which can be misleading).

The wierdest part is i do not feel sorry for the guy who died. Its his own fault.

I feel sorry for his family and friends having to go through the pain of losing a loved one.

But it does f***en suck when the media jump on the anti drug bandwagon. They blame the government for not having tough laws to counter these kind of rave deaths, and next thing you know we will have some new f***en gay legislation for concerts/raves.

Just like what happened with the guy in the city who was bashed to death. Next thing you know we have a 3am lockout rule (which i think is the most useless legislation ever)

In the end, i do not hold it against the guy for taking drugs, but Like everyone knows be willing to accept the consequences of your actions.

im locking this thread because speculation is a f***er. inthemix are having problems with the media misquoting hearsay on their forums, and the last thing we need is something happening here.

There is no proof of anything at the moment. Some of the theories being flung like horses*** around are to do with laced easter eggs being handed out, overdosing on a cocktail of drugs, etc. Friends of the guy are standing by him and i applaud them for that, because in a time where the media will take any small pebble and turn it into a mountain, this sort of stuff is gonna keep happening.

I feel for the organisers of Mayhem, who do their best to put on an awesome and safe show, and are now getting hounded because of this. Dont add fuel to the fire, and please, respect the fact that something has happened - self inflicted or not it does not matter - and a young man is now dead.
