Just eating it now and I must say it kicks some serious ass all over the place. A million times better than the other bases and tastes like the pastry around a sausage roll or pie.

Anyway, today is the launch day for it and next time you get a pizza go this base and you wont be disappointed.

Don't feed the trolls.

Cheers for the heads up Rev, I'll give it a go. Does it cost extra like the other specialty crusts?

its 1.25 extra i believe

It won't be around for long though because its an absolute bitch to prepare. It comes in rolls, and you have to roll it out and then cut out the circles, and discard the rest. Very expensive.

Dominos pizzas are gross. As are the pizzas from all the major chains.

Dominos are the bomb. Better than the pre-prepared ingredients pizza hut use.

Although, earth & sea and neo's for the win on pizzas!

a friend of mine got a domino's pizza once.... oiliest pizza I've ever seen. I might give it a go one day but really oily pizza's tend to make me sick (e.g. Pizza Hut pizza's).

I've worked at Dominos, Pizza Hut and Eagle Boys.
They are pretty much all the same.

I concur. Making your own pizza is by far superior. Fresher ingrediants for starters. Would you rather cheese that has been in your fridge, or cheese that has been sitting in a coolish bucket for several hours?

Domino's, pizzahut, eagle boys, even with all the stupid bases and stupid ingredients they come up with , shouldnt even be considered pizza.

Seriously, their "pizza's" are absolute s*** when compared to real pizza.

And i do know a thing or 2 about pizza, my parents ran a small pizza shop at moorooka for a while, and also worked at another small pizza shop for over 2 years.

Serioulsy, once youve eated real pizza for a while and then go back and eat one of the big brands, you will realy notice how s*** they are.

And with pizza, more ingredients, be it cheese or whatever, does not equal a better pizza.

Pay $5.95, eat a pizza that, by the end you are full, but nowhere near satisfied.

Pay $12-15, get a pizza that is actaully enjoyable eating and doesnt just make you full.

I had a pizza from Domi's in Wishart the other week. Was kick arse but the price is almost double to what the "chains' charge, and thats where they make their money, selling more "cardboard crap" at cheaper prices.

They might be cheap, but a 'large' pizza is pathetic these days though. You can eat a whole one and not feel satisfied. You probably won't want to eat more though, since you'll be totally greased out.

These things are ok for convenience and when you're totally broke, but otherwise, do yourself a favour and spend the extra on a real pizza with real ingredients and a real 'large' size - plenty of options too: Ellio's, Pizza Capers, Tomato Bros, Amici's, Earth&Sea, etc...

Surely there is a cheese that is lactose free?

My GF is lactose intolerant so all our milk is lactose free (obviously) but now after drinking the lactose free stuff for years, it appears as though I've developed a bit of an aversion to full cream milk.

If I drink too much of it (the odd splash in a cup of coffee isn't harmful) then I get stomach cramps, trots, etc..

I highly recommend getting your hands on Lactaid or other brand Lactase Enzyme tablets. Some health stores can order them, I find it easier to have net friends post it out from the US. Means you can let cheese and other dairy goodness back into your life even if you're severely lactose intolerant.

Ticman: Humans aren't naturally lactose tolerant, if you don't regularly have lactose your body stops breeding the enzyme required to break it down and your intolerance gets worse over time.

When I was a kid I could still have some milk without getting sick, years of having little to no dairy and I can't even have a splash of milk without getting incredibly ill.

I tried to eat normal amounts of dairy as a kid, but a normal serve of dairy (say a tub of yoghurt or a couple of slices of cheese) was always enough to make me quite sick and so as an adult I found myself avoiding dairy more and more.

These days I eat a lot of soy and lactose free alternatives and keep lactaid around for when I want to splurge on ice cream or cheese

Lactose intolerance becomes worse with age and varies from person to person. Has nothing to do with your dairy food consumption. Wikipedia told me so.

I rarely buy pizza either, it's quicker and cheaper and heaps tastier to make your own. Even making the bases doesn't take long.

Get outta town! It's super easy!

500g flour
2 yeast sachets
drizzle honey
salt
~300ml warm water

mix the water, honey and yeast leave aside for 5 mins.
salt the flour and mix in most of the water. mix it a bowl until you get a good dough, adding more water or flour depending on how sticky or not it is. Kneed it for 5-10 minutes. You can then break it into 2 or 3 pieces and roll them out into bases. Don't really need to leave to rise if you don't want to. Freeze the bases that you don't use.

Add in any herbs/spices that you want to the flour before the water.

Also to make a double decadence / triple cheese get some thin buritto type bread things and layer them on top of the base with cheese spread between them.

You can no more breed enzymes than you can rocks.

And as for the source of lactose intolerance:

Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest significant amounts of lactose, the predominant sugar of milk. This inability results from a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which is normally produced by the cells that line the small intestine.

...

Some causes of lactose intolerance are well known. For instance, certain digestive diseases and injuries to the small intestine can reduce the amount of enzymes produced. In rare cases, children are born without the ability to produce lactase. For most people, though, lactase deficiency is a condition that develops naturally over time. After about the age of 2 years, the body begins to produce less lactase. However, many people may not experience symptoms until they are much older.
