There's a Resident Evil 4 PC Listing on Play.com (UK) that would seem to indicate a PC edition of the upcoming horror sequel is in the works. The retailer listings can be unreliable, a follow-up by Andy from YiYas with Capcom Germany got an unofficial confirmation that this release is indeed planned. The release date listed is 31/3/2006.

amazing game, best console game of this generation i reckon. would be good that it got more recognition aside from the gcn and ps2 versions..has capcom ever made many pc games?

resident evil 4 on game cube was the sole reason i ran out and got a gamecube and after finishing the game i was so f***ing glad i did.

though i think the pc version will lack the same wow factor that the game cube version had for me.,

Onimusha 3 & Chaos Legion come to mind.

I don't think capcom will be doing the porting, but rather the small company that has ported their games in the past.

Edit: In which case be prepared for the most cliche console port imaginable; Resolution/setting controls in a seperate app outside of the game, un-nameable save game files, a giant arcade-style keypad that you use to enter your name, etc. I doubt KB&M will be a very good option for controls either.

and it'll probably be the PS2 version ported, since that's what the company has experience with.

Good times.

I never got into the first RE - tried it when I got my first console, a PlayStation, and thought it was boring shlock. PA gave RE4 such a good rap I was going to try it, but forgot all about it. I'll have to dig it up and have a crack.

edit: though if its coming out on PC I'd rather wait and play it on a superior platform :)

Hashy is not very good at games, hence the angst.

I'm looking forward to this but I have to agree with Hashy. The whole setup will be terrible like most console to PC ports.

if you say that, get the gc version i reckon (support nintendo lol), i dunno how well the translation would fare on a pc.. the control works really well on a console, using a pc would probably make it too easy, and they probably would not make it full analog to use with the mouse, as all RE games use digital movement, which really adds to the panicking I guess, but since this has no static cameras, its a really great way to play

also this is wayyyy different than any other RE, its more action-y but still freaky as s***. they restarted the game design a few times cos they wanted to get it right, and it did win gamespots GOTY for '05.

Just started it on PS2.
Camera angle s***s me to tears already (locked in over shoulder of player), blocks too much of vision.

If they make the controls like WoW with full and easy mouse movement then it will rock. I used to hate the PSX movement. Too slow and s***ty.
