Anyone know if the Logitech Quickcam IM works in Linux? I have no frickin' idea how to make hardware devices work in Lunix if they don't magically work by default so don't really know what I'm doing. When I plug it in and do a dmesg, I get:

hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-2, assigned address 2
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x46d/0x8a0) is not claimed by any active driver.

Now I'm stuck!

Iv never had much luck with the IMs having webcam support, so iv never tried. I plugged in my orbit in SuSE 10 and it just loaded it straight in :/

It also picked up my logitech USB headphones and added them as a new sound adapter.

What distro are you running?

The hex code ID for this cam doesn't look like its supported by that project - should that matter?

Update: Well, I got it working, sort of. Unfortunately none of the v4l apps seem to work cleanly with it - they all hang or error out. The only things that do work are the test tools that are available on the driver page. Boo.
