Ok first things first, this is the setup.

We have 1 basic games server, which we want to hold images of all the legitimate games that we own, and we want each of the 15 client pc's to:

1) Mount the image from the server, then run the application and therefore gain the CD Authentication.

Just having some trouble with cd protection and the basic 'image not working' type stuff. Can anyone give me a quick insight into how we could go about this, and what unforseen procedures need to take place.

We have attempted to do this with both older games and newer games in Warcraft III Frozen Throne and F.E.A.R. The setup is that we want to stop CD's being used in the area to prevent destruction and stealing of the games.

Surely someone can advise me on whatever needs to be done?
Thanks in advance.

Hope noone mounts up that game at the same time.. 15x700Mb download would kind of swamp your LAN.

Why not just visit GameCopyWorld and get the no-CD cracks?

No-cd cracks creates inconveniences in updating and what not. Not to mention the virus side of things.

Also the mounting of the image is not a worry on gigabit lan as it only grants authentication for the game to run, it doesnt run anything off the server. Keeping bandwidth at a minimum.

Get some mini images from naughty places, or clone cds from naughty places.
Or ask naughty people how to create a proper 1:1 clone.

try mounting the iso using daemon tools 4 and securom enabled.. then in my computer --> properties --> Hardware --> Device manager disable your physical cd-rom drive...

soak with napisan and air dry in the shade

Could you post a list of all the games you are looking to use cd emulation software with?

Some games just won't work, no matter how hard you try (like those games that completely disregard all scsi drives completely)

AFAIK every copy protection on the market can be circumvented with daemon 4 or with some creative IDE fiddling.

Mini-isos of games are available on sites such as gamecopyworld, so I assume that they're legal to use. Most of them tick in at about 2-4 meg, and just contain the error sectors of the CD.
Starforce....sometimes works with daemon (all emu on), and sometimes you need to unplug the CD drives or disable them so that daemon is the only cd drive it sees.

I havn't looked(because of my utter disgust for the game), but I'm sure there's something for F.E.A.R. Just google for forums regarding the game you want. Chances are someone on this intertron has been faced with the same problem.

GameJack

1. put cd in, run game/prog.
2. pull cd out, return to #1 for all the other games then put your cds away in a safe box, place inside a safe, take to bank for safe holding of your originals .
3. run your games without cds.

Explained
During #1 GameJack records cd activity/responses etc,
during #3 Gamejack waits for the checks and responses as the cd would.

http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ Will at least have more information on what you want to do, all legitimately assuming you own the originals as well.

Does a setup like this require a copy of the game be bought for each individual pc ?

game jack is brilliant. if it doesnt work the first time run the cd in the drive again till it does.
updating isnt a problem since you just chuck the cd back in and bingo back to hardcore game playing
