I had my petrol car setup for drifting, put a CV-R engine in it and it was awesome, stripped the drive shaft gear tho, so I cant take videos. Might get it fixed and take some vids. Here is a pic below

The HRT has a OS CV-R engine with dual speed gears, belt driven and the WRX has a OS .15 CR-V engine with single speed shaft driven and $150 worth of tamia drift suspention.

I've got an OS CV-R .18 in mine, and in total i've spent about $2500 on the car... 4 wheel power sliding a 1/10th scale is pretty fun. does probably 90km/h at full tilt, can spin all 4s of the line and front of the car jumps sometimes when it snaps into 2nd.

pretty neat.

Every time I see these things I wish I had a petrol one, then I remember how little I used my electric one and how I got the s***s with it & broke it into peices (no fire, no dragons) so just think meh. Plus there's no great areas around here to play with them without a bunch of a) hooligans trying to steal it or b) hoons trying to run over it.

edit: lol neons in that red mitsubishi

My car reaches around 75 Km/h

Cost me $400 straight up, probably put about another grand in to it, but I did blow 1 engine in the processes.

Awesome fun to race, however I think im going to get into monster trucks soon if I can be bothered.

where do you race them eds? is there a special club that you pay to race on a propper course or you just get together with mates in a cul-de-sac? Sounds like an idea for a qgl meet. qgl rc crew :)

There are some better vids of replica D1 cars.
I don't have the links :(
However you can actually see smoke come off their tyres and get the car sideways longer before the apex. But they run AWD not rear..........

that's cheating!

I want to see an RC fujuwara tofu shop car with a little tiny takumi sitting inside for icing on the cake.

it's almost impossible to drift a rwd r/c car. they just get tooooo skittish in the rear end. basically all you can do is make the back end light (pvc/tape), swing it out and drive with the front end.

also, electrics are -usually- used for drifting, much more response than nitro.

That is very far from true. If you setup your suspention properly and dont have a cheap car you can drift very very easily without using PVC pipe and tape on your tires. I havnt really raced electric but I can do kickass drifts with my petrol car with a set of slicks on it.

I can confirm this. electric cars are very easy to drift. I used to disable the 4wd part of my celica & just use the rears. That thing just wouldn't stay straight. plant the foot so to speak and it'd swing out. Mind you the battery only lasts for about 2 minutes at a time because it's gay & the engine's too powerful for it or something.

wouldnt 'drift' suspension be another word for 'bad' suspension
because good suspension helps traction doesnt it?

Stiff suspension induces loss of traction. Having the right toe and camber helps the car get sideways and STAY sideways through either throttle or steering adjustments. Lowering the car and adding thicker sway bars reduces body roll and helps with weight shifting i.e makes it easier to control when switching the slide from left to right and vise versa.

Ive got 2 nitro RC's aswell. awesum s*** man,
ones a 4x4 road car, other is a rearwheel drive stadium truck.

car:spins all 4's off the line and give it a squrt and a lil change of direction and again all 4's while spin. once the tyre heat up a lil bit, they squeal! and leave full tyre marks on the road/concrete.
I used to live at cloudlands complex in bowen hills and used to drive em in our big carpark downstairs. u kno the carpark smooth concrete. yea that s*** is awesum.

truck:built and setup for jumps and shiz it doesnt like topend speed much, heaps of fun watching the whole truck sway and tyres sliding on the road.
watching body weight movement is awesum.
chuck it in the dirt and shes in heaven, i put a 1.5 in it and havnt trouble getting front end traction, so ima work that out when i get back into it.

havnt touched em in awhile. but got me motobike back so after one more bigass bill is paid i'll be getting back into them. provided, of course, if i have enough time inbetween instances and pvp'ing in wow...

I just finished running in my little petrol car I got the other day (damn you eds for getting me interested :p). To those of you who tune these things yourselves, there's a video I got with it that says to run it rich to run it in & stuff then you lean it off so the throttle is nice & twitchy & fast response up to full tilt, but you should still be able to keep your hand on top of the motor for no less than 3 seconds. Trouble is, if it runs cold enough to keep your hand on there for 3 seconds it takes a little while to wind up and if you run it twitchy it runs too hot. What gives?

pics when I finish eating *watch this space*

how many needles u got on your carb?

should be two or three.
if its only got one then tune it inbetween.
running it the twitchest will be too hot. back it down abit.
if its got 2, play with both.
heaps of forums on the net to help with tuneing and shiz. google some

also what fuel u using? theres different fuel amount.
sometimes you get 'runin fuel' make sure your not still using that.
go down to your local hobbyshop and get some normal fuel.

also your hotplug may be a runin plug. so change that, normally want a #3(from memory) plug for normal operation. but your hobby fellas will know all that jaz

ta. they're open tomorrow morning apparently so I'll try & wake up early & head on down there. There's a main mixture screw, an idle speed screw and some other screw that does something I forget.
