I was wondering what kind of license would be needed to drive a 2 tonne truck. Would the normal class c open license suffice ? I need to help move furniture from the coast down to brissi over 2 trips. Also Anyone know of any decent truck hire places for furniture removing ? A few phone numbers and any ideas to head my in the right direction would be good. Cheers. |

Ive used Delta truck rentals and driven the trucks by myself to move from Maroochydore to Brisbane. Piss easy to drive and cost isnt too bad. Try calling Budget, Delta, Thrifty and see which one offers the best price for a day hire and what they will let you drive on your licence.
Most allow you to drive a pantec on an open licence for a good price. Easiest way to move house I find. |

you have to be 25 to hire the truck - they flat out won't hire it to you if you're not.

25?....I was 23 when I first hired one to move....never had any problems. I drove it and there were fine with it all.
Maybe the rules have changed recently. |

Most small hire trucks can be driven on a normal licence, just check with budget though.
I am not sure on the minimum age for hiring though wouldn't be surprised if it was 25. |

Last time we moved it was about 80 dollers more expensive to get mini movies than it was to hire a 2 ton truck from budget for 24 hours.

Ok well i just rang several places up and they all required the renter to be 25 + on an open license. That cuts my options short :/ I think it was thrifty that charged extra for someone under 25 and above 21. There was also extra charge for any distance in excess of 100km plus petrol/diesel tanks needed to be full when returned. For a 4 way trip here to the coast i'm looking at big bux, alot more than what i'm being paid to do anyways. Either way i'm still on prohbation until januray for my opens and i'm under 25. Looks like i'll be just doing normal work that day instead.
