Yeah! Today marks my first day as a free man. I am now a civilain once again.
After having 2.5 years of my life robbed from me, I can no return to normality (which includes making pointless posts on qgl).

Was gonna burn my uniforms... but the damnd things are fire resistant.... need to get some lighter fuel I guess ;)
maybe i should keep 1 set for use in skirmish when I return to australia.

out of curiousity, what happens if you never do the 2 or so years in the army ?

heh, was out partying too hard to come back and reply :P

if i didn't come back for national service i'd lose my bond (parents annual gross income or $75000... whichever is higher) and i can never step into singapore again... not even for transit.

anyway, i did some really dumb s*** in the army... 1) i was a combat cameraman, ran around with a video camera in addition to my battle gear, 2) i was a battlefield spam monkey.... station at the tactical hq and managed the flow of info.... but since everyone wanted a piece of the action, i basically just spammed everyone with anything that came though me.

i think al qaeda pays better than the singapore army.... i mean f***, i'm getting paid 500 a month as a sergent.

and to answer stex, i learnt lots from the army though nothing terribly useful of positive... it's conscription. the whole learning to be independent thing is crap, you can "learn" it by living away from your family while doing your degree... and it's more fun that way
