I wouldn't mind seeing it but for $70 sifn't just get Fist of Legend and Shaolin Monk on DVD and spend the rest on candy.

Aren't monks supposed to be all disciplined and s*** and not care about money? Are these the monks that sold out?

fpot, I don't think it's about them selling out, it's about showing some of eastern civilisations greatest skills, and they can not show the western civilisation this without making money.
In some ways the east is so far ahead of the west in some aspects. |

they hit each other with sticks and stuff, and like break bricks on their heads. Thats why they don't know how to read and write or do math. :P So they decided they will just jump around and hit each other with stuff. On a serious note. I have never seen them and hopefully me and the mates will go. |

Yeah I think it was well worth the money - I'd like to go again this year but can't really afford it atm. They are coming to Toowoomba this time! |

The energy they use for most of the "stunts" they do is called "chi", and it is a mystical force. I've experienced it first hand from my old Tai Chi teacher, and it's absolutely amazing. |

You sir, need to get your facts straight. The energy they use for most of the "stunts" they do is called "chi", and it is a mystical force. I've experienced it first hand from my old Tai Chi teacher, and it's absolutely amazing. facts like... that i went & saw the whole troop a few years ago at boondall?? I said that they use magician type props & i stick by that, but it doesn't make it a fact, it's my opinion. the thing that really stood out to me as a stunt was when they started breaking metal tubes over each others heads. they tapped the metal tube against a wooden pole & it gave that 'dooong' of a hollow metal pipe. then the guys do thier shout then one guy hits the other guy in the head with the pipe & IT BREAKS. now that guy could have a head made of pure diamond & no ammount of force could be applied to a hollow metal pipe & make it break evenly without bending or denting. it was quite obvious to anyone in the audience with half a brain that the pipe was doctored to break cleanly at a specific point. that said... it was still an impressive show... especially the little fellow that the older guy cracks macadamia nuts on his head :) as for the chi ... "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid" ;D |

haha I agree with demon.
I saw the full blown show at the entertainment centre in '99 i think it was... Most of the time they're just jumping around like animals like on the Dario G - Sunchyme videoclip. Then some old man comes out and puts his leg behind his head. Then some kid runs around like a monkey and stands on a stick. And yeah, you can have chi coming out the ying yang but there's no fukn way someone could snap an inch thick piece of metal on his head. |
