Cookie wasn't mouthing off at that guy, he was just making a smart arse comment towards Steam...which is perfectly fine (but obviously u have no sense of humour).

"Anyone know of a game that plays similar to Outcast (not Jedi)?
FPS,action,adventure."

i understand and accept the existence of mainstream gamers, but i hate ppl who dont do any work b4 they start asking stupid questions. u didnt provide a format for the game and u gave a criteria which probably fits more than 40% of the games out there on the market. FPS alone takes out a large quantity of games out there, and what FPS can not be classified as an action game? then with the added criteria of "adventure" all u have to do is walk into a game shop with ur eyes shut and pick up a game which fits ur description. but seriously, u could easily go to any respectable game site with a review archive and find a handful of games which fits ur desired profile in no more than 10 minutes. u dont have to be a geek or a hardcore gamer to do that u know?

u should be old enough to not get mouth fed by others, but then again, by the colourful languages u demonstrated on the other thread and ur obvious lack of understanding for internet conventions, maybe u still require a few more years to grow up.

No,What are you talking about?
Being a mainstream gamer and all and needing to be spoonfed wisdom by others,I thought it would have been obvious to those pro gamers like yourself that if you had played the game"Outcast" someone might know a game that is of that genre.Just like UT plays similar to Quake.Nowhere did I write smartarses need reply. If I see a post where I can contribute positively I'll contribute. Look thru the posts & you'll see the same few wankers trying to one up themselves.
P.S The other post was'nt exactly aimed at him anyway.

Yeah thanks.Anyone whose played it would know, for its time the AI was fairly advanced, even with large groups of soldiers & villagers.Rendering was pretty impresive too. There must be a game that plays along similar lines out there.

Hey mr hitman, what was it again XBOX reviewer?
Your gonna have to start spoonfeeding the reviewers over at PC PowerPlay with your wisdom as well! They just named Outcast in their 100 all time greatest games once again.
Suck on that !

umm...did i ever say Outcast was a bad game? nope i don't think i did. but looking at this in two ways, coming #92 isn't anything to be proud of but then again, they put both GTA3 and GTA:VC in the top ten not to mention Deus Ex 2 came #8 so i guess their top 100 doesn't really have much credibility. again though, i never said Outcast was a bad game so quit making a fool out of yourself kid.

seriously, grow up. suck on that? what are you, in 3rd grade? these endless childish taunts are really pathetic.

Dude, GTA3 and GTA:VC were good games and deserved their place in the Top 10. Besides performance issues, I really don't see the problem with Invisible War being in the top ten besides the fact that it should have lost points for having a main character called 'Alex D'. The only problem I had with the Top 100 was that Call of Duty made an appearance at all, let alone number one.

well, i didnt think Call of Duty deserved number 1, but it was a good game and certainly should appear somewhere in the top 20. personally, i didnt like GTA:VC and GTA 3. ppl always say u have so much freedom...but in reality, the only freedom u have is to kill and steal vehicles whereever and whenever you want...if you strip everything down and look at the core gameplay, that's all they are. sure they tried to cover it up with a few missions etc. but they're pointless. but hey, that's just my opinion.

as for Invisible War, if the first game wasn't so good or if this was the first game, no one would notice it. i didnt have any performance issues apart from the fact that i had to re-adjust my video and control settings each time i open up the game again. then there's the "multiple endings" where you get to choose the ending you want from a list on a computer screen a few minutes b4 it takes place...is it me, or does quality multiple endings usually have a bigger branch and require a sequence of real decisions that would decide on which path u walk towards instead of just one choice at the a few minutes before the end? it's such a lazy effort from Ion Storm.

oh and also, the load screens kinda put me off too. not only was the load times long (much longer than Morrowind, a game much more open and infinitely bigger compared to the teeny levels of Invisible War) there was also a s*** load of them. by a s*** load, i mean, just about every 5 minutes when u walk into a new area (or a hotel room that is important to the mission), it starts loading. i mean, since when was this acceptable? or better yet, since when was a game with these kinds of problems allowed to be in the top 10? it is just downright lazy. some of these may just be my opinions, but the facts are there.

and dont u find it strange that Half Life came 11th this year when last year, it was ahead of some of this year's top 10s? shouldnt they remain where they are and just slot the new games in accordingly? it's just a charade, i've learnt years ago not to use anyone's "top 100" or "top 50" or "top 10" as a source of comparison. they're just fun, lite reading and is interesting to look at the games over the years, but their positions mean nothing since it's all such a joke.

oh yeah, i read what i write all the time. im not self-proclaimed, go to www.ausxbox.net kid and see for yourself *sigh* stupid boy. don't swear so much, it makes you look even more immature.

"Who the f*** annointed you to spray your over opinionated garble over other peoples work."

well let's see...i guess God did. everyone has a right to "spray their over opinionated garble over other peoples work" after all, it's a free country.

most of what i said was not my opnions, they're facts (for example, the load times). my opinion was that lots of long load times is a bad thing...which im sure most would agree. anyways, i pointed out numerous times that my opnions are only my opinions, im not shoving it down anyone's throats and telling them to accept it. if you have a short fuse and don't have the decency to properly read other people's comments, that's your problem. and also, please don't just go off and start saying how what i said was a load of s*** b/c unless you can defend the target of my criticisms, you're the one full of hot air. you provided nothing to argue against what i said, all you did was attack me which really has no affect for your case...or you for that matter, since i'm just sitting here laughing at your constantly proven childish stupidity.

oh, and as an "after thought", what makes a well known critic's opinion more valid than mine....or anyone else's for that matter? is it because viewer's have to pay to read their stuff (such as PCPP)? is it b/c it's an actual physical magazine therefor it's nicely presented and have a publishing house to back it up (like PCPP)? it's like the whole brand thing. just b/c a certian brand is more recognised and more popular, doesn't mean it's better quality than a lesser known brand. Yes...I prefer the designs and the look of Nike shirts compared to say a plain white shirt, but when it comes down to it, they're the same quality (referring to a basic cotton shirt for this example), Nike just has a well established logo. take that logo off and stick it on the plain white shirt and voila, instant increase in value.

there is a lesson to be learnt here. if you don't understand this analogy and wish to pursue your heavily flawed and childish ideaology, i shall say no more b/c it proves that you're not worth helping b/c you are just hanging on to your faults like a stupid little brat.

Did you not read my last post?Apparently no! If you were good enough to write for magazine publishers you would be.In your dreams chump.Talk about claim to fame!

...well, do i need to say anymore? well ok, just for the fun of seeing what he'll say in response.

"If you were good enough to write for magazine publishers you would be."

i just explained the problem with that whole concept before, yet you didn't understand a single word so i guess i'll just take it that you have not yet reached an intellectual stage where you'd understand simple English and move on.

next up, i didn't claim any fame, i just said that i'm not a self-proclaimed reviewer because the sig i use is not made by me, it was just a sig all AusXbox staff are required to put on since i write for AusXbox. Anyways, i merely talked about my POV towards a few topics and since i had "Reviewer" on my sig and ofcourse, was opposition to what you said (which you couldn't handle since you haven't yet reached puberty), you went nuts.

in my dreams? haha maybe in YOUR dreams, being a professional game reviewer garners the highest level of respect capable of being bestowed upon any person. ofcourse, that's not a surprise from someone like you. to me, games are just a method of passing time, it's a hobby. not my profession. but for a kid like you, it's probably the holy grail.

if what i am saying really has no credibility, why don't you tell me where i'm wrong? as in, specifically target a topic i brought up and argue against it. so far, according to you the only reason i have no credibility is that i don't work for a well known source such as a famous magazine. if that's your only reason then it shows how naive you are. what you're saying is: out of all the people in the world, only professional journalists have a valid opinion on games. absolutely nobody else does.

stupidity proven.

Kids usually bring up age alot, you included. At a fair bet I'm probably twice your age and no, gaming is not the centre of my universe, but very likely is yours as you seem to want educate my poor uneducated, inexperienced self. You've probably forgotten the original post, so high up there on your soap box.You remind me of the handler.....?

whooa, dont say anything you might regret :D
a couple more points for consideration:

1) just because youre good enough to write for a published game review magazine, doesnt mean youre gonna. get it? it's just like pitching game ideas to publishers, there may be five good ones, but they only need one.

2) it is a bad idea to bring age into this on both your parts. it's impossible for either of you to tell how old the other is without some kind of cool age-revealing machine (blueprints are in process). go ahead and guess my age.
besides, teenagers are able to bring up valid points, its not like theyre all homey bro d*******s (dont u hate them?)

3) isnt it interesting how such a simple topic can turn into this?
cant we all just get along? :D
peacemaker out.

yeah, age really isn't a factor here, but i just assumed w was a little kid since he lacks any indication of intelligence or maturity evident in his lame come backs and a need to swear to try to make his comments heard. but hehe ok, i'll leave this topic alone from now on partly b/c w isn't hearng a thing i say time and time again. pointless really. but also b/c Mr Shrimp said so :P

Hey Hitboy! I will try to summarise the crap you have been quoting, seeing as you keep saying that I am not listening.Quote "You dont care about listening","u like yapping","u love an audience".I heard the circus dog over at Silvers Circus passed away, there may be an opening.(Now,Now!)
"No. 92 of top 100 is nothing to be proud of".You if anybody should know,if your'e so game savvy, that alot of work goes into these games and that to be mentioned anywhere in the top 100 is an achievement.Especially considering the sheer number of games being produced nowadays."Long load times"It's hard to think of any games of that era that could fit so much world &so many characters into one load time.On my machine it loads in about 3seconds.With all your campy quotes,I have a sneaking suspicion your'e the handler or his bitch. But then that's just my opinion as you constantly quote

look, i NEVER said Outcast was a bad game. it was just when you were so happy about the fact that it appeared on a mere Top 100 (indicated by your "Suck on that" remark) that i suggested it wasn't all that great of an achievement, but i still never said the actual game itself was bad, do you understand the difference? about the load times, i never said Outcast had long load times, i said Deus Ex 2: Invisible War had long load times. go back and read that again. see? i told ya you never listened to what people had to say. one other thing, you need to learn to understand the concept of quoting. if your QUOTING something i am saying, that's called a quote. you don't refer to what i said as a quote unless i quoted someone else. for example: "I love an audience". first of all, i never said that so it's already not a quote, but secondly, even if i did say that, you put it in the wrong context. you see? i don't even have to say anything and you've already proven your elementary level.

anyways, i'm bored with talking to a wall, so type as much lame come backs as you want (such as Hitboy...pffft ridiculous, you keep proving how immature you are, don't you see?), i'm not replying to this thread no more.

PS. go to GameRankings.com where you'll find a list of various international sources for scores of each game (and they also do an average score for each game based on the scores given by each source) and you'll notice that sometimes (not always, as is the case with your game Outcast), the different sources rate a game very differently. they are each respected sources from around the world, yet they have disagreements over the quality of a game...so which score in your opinion is more valid? (if you try to make a pass at how AusXbox.net isn't listed on that site, then you can forget about it since i don't give a rat's arse about that. i review games as a hobby, not as a competitive profession). bottom line is, you can't scientifically put a specific score on a game, it's like trying to judge music or art. it's not maths. i just brought up the idea that being on a certain magazine's Top 100 doesn't mean it truly deserves that position, it may in this case, but it's nothing to get excited about. go to another mag's Top 100 and you may not find it there at all, but that doesn't mean s***. if you enjoyed it, good for you.

before i leave this thread, know that i NEVER said Outcast was a bad game. im stating this for the second time in this post, and God knows how many times in this thread because somehow you've got it in your head that every bad thing i said about GTA:VC and Deus Ex 2 was targeted at Outcast and that's NOT TRUE.

phew, that's a huge P.S but i think i've made myself clear enough :P

i did say i wont reply...but since im replying to Mr Shrimp then it should be ok right?

the mudpit wrestling certainly sounds enticing, but i think i'll pass. but i do believe these sorts of arguements would be better settled in perosn, not online, b/c it's almost impossible to convince someone without punching them in the face! :P

you know w, when i calm down and think about it, when i said "... 'nuff said" , i said it when i was in a bad mood. i saw a question which could be easily solved by visiting a few web sites, so i got annoyed b/c it's just wasting forum space. usually, when i see these questions, even though i find them unnecessary, i still answer them as fully as possible, but since i was not in the best of moods, i simply tried to be sarcastic. but it just got worse and worse (or more and more hilarious) as i read myself being called a "condescending little flea" or "Hitboy". after this make-up kiss, it doesn't mean that i take back everything ive said so far, what i've said still stands, but im just trying to clear some things up since i think we began on the wrong foot. i know i said i wont reply again to this thread, but i thought i should share my revelation with you after someone posted up a similar question on AusXBox.net and i answered him as fully as i could, then realised i could've done the same with you.

oh well, so in trying to help you, visit this page:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/outcast/index.html?q=Outcast

it reviews the game plus tell you what other titles you should "Also Consider" if you enjoyed this game. you can find the "Also Consider" column to the right side of the page towards the bottom. another magazine which tells you what games are similar to the one being reviewed is GamesTM. they probably dont have a review for Outcast since it's a relatively new magazine, but for future references, it's another good source of information.
