i want to put my Jensen home cinema subwoofers in my car. the model is SPX-19. the problem is that i cant power them. i searched the net for a bit and came up with power inverters. i want to know if i can plug my SPX-19 into a power inverter with out damaging it or my car? i already have plugged it in before using a extention cord and it fuken pumps. its power requirments are: 240V,50Hz,450WATTS min thx in advance |

Yes, an invertor is just a portable power plant that runs off the battery.

I would be more inclined to say that its a transformer that runs off the alternator. sure would suck alot of juice without the vehicle running :)

There is a rectifier in the alternator before it goes to the battery. Also, when you speed up in your car, the alternator spins faster, so the output frequency would change.

You can get a 12v dc to 240ac inverter for the car... friend used one to power a comp. I dont know if it will go good for your subs though. PSU was only like 300wat. if that.

if you are going 240v get another car battery installed and run it off the 2nd battery.
