But i like those types of games. And it was a very long time ago. |

You must have lived a real sheltered life to not have that one dumbassYes, I must have been, I had no idea there were people out there so retarded that they could not appreciate what Lucas Arts were doing with the Adventure Game Genre. |

The old LA games were brilliant, and DoTT was definately one of my fav's :p I still have my copy sitting around here somewhere, shame you won't get sound unless you have an old 8bit SB or some such :p We prolly still have our copy of Loom on 5 1/4s somewhere too... ;p

Hell yeah :D DoTT was mad fun... they don't make adventure games like they used to...
I'm sure you'd find it as abandon-ware as I downloaded it ages ago (couldn't get it working with sound either :( Long live the 2d adventure games! psst (try these) Flight Of the Amazon Queen Broken sword (I think it was called) Curse of Monkey Island Sam and Max: hit the road and the rest have been lost in my memory. |

DoTT's prequel? You mean Maniac Mansion, right? or is this another "haha - T is for testicle" joke?
If you want to give these games a bash on your ninja pc, go grab a copy of SCUMMvm - it's a freeware proggy that lets you play all the old LA adventure games with sound and at proper speed (there's a dreamcast version too!) Needless to say - I'm still trying to find a copy of Maniac Mansion that lets you put Ed's (that was his name, wasn't it?) Hamster in the microwave :D |

I always wanted to play that game, but never got a chance. It looked awsome and funny.
Ahhhh, remember the good old days of Space Quests.. Put orb in mouth.... I remember I got that puzzle right away, was happy with myself for that one. I really, really loved the Space Quest where you start in a junk yard and have to find a space ship that works, and then you have to get all the parts. Damn those were really creative and fun games. The Police Quests and Kings Quests where awsome too. Check Tyre's .... hahah |

Put orb in mouth.... wasnt it "put gem in mouth?" but yer, i was stuck at that bit for ages (and ages) loved all the early sierra work (lsl, kq, aq, pq, sq, man there were a lot of quests!!) sooo many hours of entertainment as a young fella i would cheat though when i got stuck, by viewing the save game files and finding out what inventory items i could pick up; solved many a problem for me; good times, good times! |

Definantly - between Sierra, Lucasarts & the other couple of companies popping out these great adventure games, the early-mid 90's were most fun :)
The only real problem with most of those tho, was the whole "once it's finished, now what?" thing... anyhow - back to playing Monkey Island 2 :) |

Yes, yes it was. I remember going, hrm, cant use my hands or my feet.. well the mouth is free! put gem in mouth. BLING. yippy. I rekon the quests where you had to type your commands were better then the point and click ones. The point and click ones came down to moving the curser around the screen untill the curser changed, or just randomly clicking inventory items on things. At least the typy ones you HAD to think to get past it. That said, Kings Quest 5 was pretty fun still. |

Kings Quest 5 was pretty fun still Kings Quest 5 was one of those viciously vindictive games, where you could miss an item and not know it, and then never be able to get it again. For example, I remember there was one bit where you entered a screen and a rat was running along the bottom of the screen. If you didn't throw a shoe at it and kill it right then, in a the few seconds before it went off the screen, you wouldn't get a piece of cheese that you needed for the very end. And the rat would never ever come back if you missed it, and the game gave you no indication that you'd just missed something vitally important and it would let you keep playing right up till the end, where you realised you couldn't beat it and had to start all over again. |

Full Throttle and The Dig were also awesome...
Nothing will ever beat the Monkey Island series though, I've laughed out loud soo much. BTW Zork Nemesis and Grand Inquisitor (sp?) were great, mind benders. |

I found the Dig to be rather dumb. It started off promising, but then when the aliens turned out to be giant chickens, I lost all respect for it.

What the heck is AQ? I can't remember! (This is driving me insane) i was thinking it was adventure quest, but after a bit of a search, they werent called that at all! (sorry hashy) the game im thinking of was a quest, but it had a role playing side to it (i think u could chose to be a sword guy, a magic guy, etc) it was set in the desert ( remember being stuck trying to get past some mini sand twisters) edit: it turns out it was quest for glory (i didnt remmeber that) did find jones in the fast lane though, popssibly the best pc board game ever!!! |

This is a cool thread, but no more posting links to abandonware sites thanks, its still technically warez. Contrary to popular belief, no matter how old a game is, its still not legal to download it for free.
Also, Quest For Glory games did indeed rock. |

Yeh I had the original AID and when I first played it I always got stuck at the top of the stairs, couldn't work out how to get past those flying things. THen I got the net and got the walkthrough and finished it. I accidentilly sold the disc at a garage sale a while ago. I just grabbed a bunch of dusty cds and sold em as a bundle, should've checked first. But I, ah, got the 2nd and 3rd ones a month or so ago from somewhere.... ;)

From someone who cant access atm: If you're going to play any old lucas arts adventure games, your best bet is ScummVM, which is basically a port of the engine they use to windows. It also has features like a 2xSai filter, which enhances the graphics somewhat. http://scummvm.sourceforge.net
