since when do P4 sinks have a sticker over the thermal pad? I don't recall ever seeing one.

yeah they would, otherwise it would stick to the packaging.

anyway i've done business with CA before and had no problems. maybe also remember that there are bad stroys about every pc retailer in the country, stop being so cynical with 'cover up attempts' and 'conspriciy theroys maen!'

someone farked up, so long as they fix it whats the problem.

Yeh I've never had any issues with CA only good service. Ok so someone may have f***ed up assemlbing the comp. human error is something that plagues all industries.

It's how they address and resolve the issue where the true test of the company lies.

Report back on that front before sledging them.

Have you thought to take it back to them? Sure, you're going to get parts DOA. My videocard was broken when I bought a whole system from CA. I took it back, they tested it, they replaced it - no trouble.

Until you take it back and they refuse to fix it or replace it, THEN you can come and bitch to the forums. But, until then - hush child.

and plus, i've had 2 bad instances with CA, with hdd and mouse. hdd took forever to get back.(wihle i could have done it myself through seagate and it would have taken around 2 weeks)

2.My logitech optical mouse( came back on time, they had the mouse instorage for 2 months, didn't even ring me up,cos of some f***wit salesperson who didn't fill out the form properly.(CA photocopy the filledout form and hand you one back, but this fag, didn't put down the number on one of them which was his copy.!!)

Interesting.....Ive never seen a P4 heatsink (STOCK HEATSINK) with tape and thermal grease on it. The bottom on the P4 heatsinks Ive seen have had a black type thermal tape (its more like a piece of foil) that sits on top on the core. And from memory those dont have any covering tape saying it has to be removed (Please note I could be wrong its been a while since I opened a brand new P4.

As for the RAM working after you replacing the PSU and it sparking up well there goes any warranty on it anyway because its damaged through a power surge....no supplier I know of would replace the RAM if its burnt. As for it working.....it is possible....Ive seen it happen before.

Just what Ive seen in personal experience.

manshoon you're correct. Place where i work at, only deals with Intel. the stock heatsinks only have the black colour thermal tape, and its still there, cos i built a few ,a few days ago.

AMD's - yep. Intel - I've never seen it. They've got a black thermal pad thingy that isn't remotely sticky unless it gets very hot.

CA are the own, I have bought quite a bit through them. Last time I got a gf4, there was a problem with it and my mobo, was no fault with the card. They tested it out, found it to be fine and asked me a few questions, after they worked out it was my mobo they were happy to let me get credit to get another vid card.

I bought a 40gig drive off CA yesterday with a 3 year warranty. Actually, everything I've bought from them has worked perfectly. Come to think of it, every place I've bought stuff off I've had no probs with.

i didnt read any of the posts but that is one of the stupidest things ive ever heard what sort of professoinal forgets to remove the sticker thing. i mean even an 8 yr old could tell that it would be an obstruction. which will cause damage

Asshat.... to tell u the truth i havent built p4 for about 2 months and cant really remember if it had a sticker on it or not... but it was the point that i was making that if there is a sticker over the heatsink which is going to be cooling your very hot cpu u would want to be removing it also its not usually overly had to see, ie AMD hsf

Well from memory there is NO sticker over the bottom of the P4 heatsink.

So either you have an AMD processor OR its not the stock heatsink. Now if you got CA to build the PC for you and ordered it stock then I cant see them replacing the heatsink with another.

And 12inch if you had a problem....they said they fixed it and you still had a problem you should have taken it back again and DEMANDED they fix it.....oh and give a FULL fault description of what was wrong. When I worked at Umart I cant remember the number of customers (including a couple from here) who took in their PC's and said "Its got a problem.....fix it".....real easy to do when YOU DONT KNOW THE PROBLEM EXACTLY.

If you fixed the problem yourself you obviously knew what the problem was and cant have explained yourself well when you returned it or they would have been able to have fix it as easy as you did.
