Topic: Help Overclocking My CPu

I have a Athlon 1.4 and i would like to overclock it to gain a bit more performance till i upgrade @ tax return time. it is on a Asus A7v333 and 512mg ddr 333 kingmax. does anyone no what i should have the mulitplier set at and the voltage.

id be leaving the voltage well alone until u cant turn up the fsb anymore (then maybe a bit of extra voltage will help)
if its an athlon 1.4, it will be multiplyer locked (although my old 1.2 gig athlon wasnt), so unless u unlock it, u can only really play with the fsb;

sorry yeah it is unlocked. i can change all the settings that what makes me wanna play with it but not to sure with athlons been a celeron man most of my life so dont no what settings for Athlon

just try out new settings;
make sure u know how to clear your cmos if u push too hard

Just make sure you push it up in small increments and benchmark/play for an hour each time to make sure it's stable at whatever speed you set it to. Just being able to start windows isn't a guarantee that the CPU is stable at a set speed :)

yeah orbitor. although if your talking prime95 ... well lets just say my system cant pass its stress test not overclocked. dunno whats wrong. running 3dmark looped all day, sandra burn in, etc run fine for ages. days.

anyway, yeah.

i'd like to see how you go, i've got the same cpu with sd ram and asus a7v133-c. The highest i could take mine was 1.53ghz, it ran stable for a little bit on that, couldn' go any higher.(thats with no messing around with voltage or anything) and its back to 1.4ghz, don't really do anything tough on it anymore :)
