I named my computer last night, I was just wondering if any of you name yours as well?

His name is Disco Stu! Due to the addition of a Mirror Ball (it was the next logical step after the tri colour fan)

btw - an interesting research note - If you name your computer, do you also name your car? Do you have any pets?
I have 2 dogs and my Car's name is Ralphy - to the point that my friends call him Ralphy and when I'm at other peoples places and they need to get out of the driveway they go "Can you move Ralphy?"

I try not to get attatched to my puter by giving it names and such, as it's only a tool for me, and could be replaced at any time.

I haven't named my computer, or my current car. My old car's name was "Mazzy". Yes it was a Mazda :/

Actually our small car's name is "Buzzy" (little red Swift) and the other car is just "Big Car" (Camry).

Betsy Blue Car (ford falcon) actually my dad's a taxi owner so we tend to get old taxi's. :P
Then there was "Tank" which was a Mazda and it was OLD I think it was a 626.
And then there was Jane which was a Mazda 323 (Okay, my mum thought she was a comedian - Tarzan swings from "Tree 2 "Tree" (323) but the car was female, so it was Jane)
We had a Landrover Series III named "Lorna Landy"
Then we got our Landrover Discovery, my mum and dad had a MAJOR argument about the name, mum wanted Daisy, dad wanted Dick.

my car is called The Harbingers' Scorpion - a joke that my mate and i kinda take overboard, we are the Harbingers of Doom, so everything we own is kinda done in that stead.

His Landcruiser is the Harbingers' Workhorse, etc, its kinda gay but amusing when really really tired or really really drunk.

It don't know why some people think it's strage to name thier PCs, if you've worked in a fairly big network with lots of computers it really does help if you named them in some logical manner.

Although when I used to work with Jim, we named our Servers after the Simpson's characters :) We even named one Jub Jub :) -- Or now I see why you think we're strange.

3 computers here, Cathy, Phoebe and s***box

cathy was named by someone else, their reason: commodore + athlon commy, athy = cathy. meh their idea not mine but the name cathy stuck. I've always liked the name phoebe for some reason (no it has nothing to do with phoebe from charmed, I like the name way before that was on TV). s***box, well it is a s***box. (Linux gateway).

my first car was aptly named "leaky s***box" because when it rained it turned into a fishtank on wheels. my 2nd car didn't have a name (not by me anyway) it was just "the commodore". my 3rd car probably won't have a name either, just "the gemini" or something.

The cat's name is "fatso" because we got it in winter and it looked really fat so I called it fatso but it was really just fluffy fur, in summer it's kinda skinny. my mum calls it "velcro" because anything and everything sticks to it.

My old comp is called Silencer. New comp is called LD99. After I upgraded and re-installed, they are now called LD99-XP16 and LD99-XP17.... so no.16 and no.17 for short. :D

My computer's name is the name of my daughter, the file server is the nickname for my daughter (named by my b/f), and my mothers computer is named after where it is.

if i bought an aibo, i'd call it aibo. so technically, that's not giving it a name, other than the name given to it already (ie brand name, model name, whatever). just like i use the term "computer" when referring to my computer. that's not a name practically, but technically it is.

When I only had two pc's they were called Itchy and Scratchy. Itchy was the primary box, because in the cartoon's Scratchy is a little slow. :) But now scratchy is my linux box and seeing as I've not got around to actually reinstating its name I normally either call it "linux box" or "gateway".

necra's is named after her middle name. (boring, I know, but I like the name)

When we used to live with Lyco and necra's sister, lyco had 2 pcs - his primary was Zeus (never asked him where that came from) and his crappier pc was called "Skank". It was always referred to as a female, too - "can you look at Skank because her speakers aren't working".

At work my pc has the wonderfully creative name of "cp23-101x". I didn't name it, but I'm the only person in the office that has an "x" in their pc's name, so I feel l33t. :P
