Topic: to linux or not to linux?

i just downloaded and burned the isos from red hat for linux 8.0...can anyone tell me how to use them? they don't seem like any windows disc structure i've ever seen...i just need to know how to install it from cd to hd on a primary (blank) partition.

put the first cd in your cdrom drive it shouuld be bootable and make sure you have your cdrom enabled in your bios to boot off it.

I personaly recoment Mandrake for people starting off with linux but redhat would be my 2nd choice. After you get the hang of things i would move onto a more hardcore distro like Slackware Linux

sorry for busting in on this topic, but i have been woundering for ages, wat the hell is linux, is it a program like 0x, or windows???

linux is an open source operating system. so yes its a bit a like windows but def not as user friendly.

actually, the most user friendly version of Linux has got to be Lycoris, it is pretty much a rip off of Win XP and youcan get it @ www.lycoris.com even though its not displayed on the first page, just dig a little and youll find the link for the .ISO
