Hollywood able to hack your PC
In Washington, Congress is deciding if or not to allow a proposal that would let copyright holders disable PCs used for illegal and illicit file sharing/trading. The draft says that the attorney general must be given details about "specific technologies the copyright holder intends to use to impair." It's thought that this could be yet another move towards digital piracy clamp down by big corporations. Source: news.com.com |

ok, this is the part that s***s me. "in Washington" and "congress". why does a law made in america have jurisdiction over here? they think they are the center of the world, and it s***s me.
also, even IF the law gets passed, 2 days after they start doing it, there's gonna be a freeware proggie that stops access or some s*** like that, so why do they bother? |

Well it'll be interesting how much money they get sued for the first time they mistakenly disable someone's PC. Be interesting to see the CEO of a big company sue their asses off if something goes wrong.

How do you know they are going to "hack" your PC.
They will probably DoS it. Or flood the networks with random crap. |

Theyll probably try to hack it hollywood style.
ie, getting hunky guys/spootie chicks to upload logic bombs behind firewalls in giant 3D rendered GUI's that make no sense. |

i don't think this law is designed to allow them to hack my mum and delete her MP3 collection, but more to take down some of the hubs of the distributed networks used by many to pirate music.
Anyway, they can hack me, i've got nothing to hide......... that isn't encrypted. |
