taco, they also look like they are purely trying to sell them based on their looks. Yamaha big fat black blocks of death = win.

i recently purchased a stereo for home use, i did a lot of researching and shopping around and finally purchased a Harman/Kardon amp + cd player hooked up to B&W speakers, its really a matter of personal preference and what type of music/movies you listen to/watch. Geoff Musgrave electronics have a great range of quality products and after spending quite a bit of time there listening to everything i could this is what i liked the best
HK amp = model AVR 3000 = $1400 HK CD player = model FL8380 5 cd tray = $600 B&W front speakers = mid size, model 600 Series 2 $1000 for the pair, Rear speakers = bookshelfs, model 300 Series 2 $400 for the pair centre speaker = $700 active sub = model ASW300 = $900 the sound quality is pristine, with perfect crossover between my front speakers and the sub, the bass is flawless and the silver-dome (or whatever) tweeters make for perfect hi-pitched sounds. here are some pics, amp + cd player http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00001.jpg front speaker http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00002.jpg rear speaker http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00003.jpg sub http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00005.jpg front view http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00006.jpg complete front, no covers http://members.optushome.com.au/jkaszai/stuff/home_theatre/small/DSC00009.jpg also, if you get a system like this, i cannot stress the importance of quality cable dont go out and get s*** cable if you spend a decent amount on the equipment, because that is where you degrade the quality of sound. i have some nice ultra-high grade speaker cable which retails for around $10/meter - fortunately, i didnt have to pay for it :)) if you have any questions just post and ill be more than happy to answer them edit: please note that my neighbours are now no longer nice to me and some of my louvers out of my windows have rattled loose and are now broken :/ |

not directly it isnt no. good equipment determines the sound quality, and generally speaking, the better the equipment, the more expensive it is. also like i said, i didnt pay for that cable, and after using some s*** cable with my speakers for the first week and then swapping to ultra-high grade, there isnt a huge difference, but there is a difference none the less. koopz: whos car are we talking about? |
