Rounding out 2018 on the desktop front, PC giant Valve has revealed what cooked most on Steam for the year in a number of categories. From the top 100 sellers as "measured by gross revenue" for 2018 to the Top Early Access Graduates -- games that left Early Access in 2018, also measured by gross revenue for the year -- here's Valve's breakdown of how you voted with your wallet for PC gaming in 2018. Unsurprisingly in the Top Sellers Platinum department, PUBG and DOTA2 maintained their position in the upper echelon, and were accompanied by the likes of Grand Theft Auto V (likely more to do with GTA Online), The Elder Scrolls Online, Warframe and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Click here for the full list of "Top Sellers". In the Top New Releases category, Valve has broken this list up into month-by-month which features a heady list of Indies and Triple-As padding out the year. From Dragon Ball FighterZ to Secret of Mana, Attack on Titan 2, Far Cry 5, Dark Souls Remastered and beyond, click here to see the full year's breakdown of Top New Releases. The list also features Top VR-Only Experiences including the likes of Job Simulator and Fallout 4 VR. Dead Cells, Rust and Subnautica join a cast of graduates, as mentioned in our intro, of games that left Early Access for full retail release in the Best of 2018 Early Access Grads. And finally, unsurprisingly it's Valve's own top releases that round out the year in the Best of 2018 Most Played category lead by Dota 2, Team Fortress 2 and CS:GO. Alongside them we see PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, Monster Hunter World and Path of Exile: Betrayal among another impressive list. Did any of these games take you by surprise this year? |
