it's worth mentioning that by the time you get your AV software on there you're then pushing your CPU and ram to the same level as playing a videogame whenever a scan kicks in.

12 months from now that load will increase with the unending Windows and AV updates.

get the best Intel CPU you can eh

Looks sweet just don't forget to update the vertex3 firmware in your old rig before pulling it all apart to upgrade (well that's what happened to me anyway).

Video card is ok, I got one of those (or very similar) and it's k-rad. Also, I bought another 8gb of ram the other day seeing as though it was only $75.

I think 8 gigs is plenty atm. Sorta concerned with the 120gigs of space for the SSD, I'd be using it for Windaz, Steam + random small apps. Thinking steam could kill it? :O

Other one would be vid card, not sure if its worth the bump to a 570?

My boot disk is 63gb full and that's just windows, and a few apps (big thunderbird directory tho) and seems i installed portal2 on it by mistake; my steam dir (on a velociraptor) is 47gb. You'd be pushing it...

I would just run windows off the ssd and some other small apps, not steam aswell. Just my opinion though.

Also yeah I really like the 570 so yeah if ya got the cash get it.

I've found that 120GB is a good size for a Windows 7 install, but you won't want to be cramming heaps of stuff on to it. I wouldn't even attempt it with a 60GB SSD.

maybe i'll cut out the SSD and bump up the vid card. Not worth it if all i'm going to use it for is windows + a few apps :\

I run a momentum xt hybrid SSD and it is very fast and very cheap for what it is. 500gb for $116 and it is just short in many things of SSD Speeds.

Just another option really.

Edit: Also get 1600mhz RAM, not much difference in price and a lot better.

What MrAnderson said,

I just grabbed a system yesterday from computer alliance..

i7 2600, 8gig ram, 1tb hdd and a 1gig ATI 6950... was a tad over 1k and its chewing through anything on high settings.

I've been smashing bad company 2 on highest settings and the FPS hasn't so much as dipped once.

Computer alliance was awesome, and definately 6000 times better than umart with both service and price, from my experiences.

So for anyone still freaking out over a decision, my rig is above and it chews through games like there is no tomorrow.

Seems sweet to me man, also do a little research on the ssd compared to a momentum xt hybrid ssd, just to save a few more bucks and give you a lot more room for data.

I'd personally go to Corsair for the PSU

And wouldn't find a need to go to a 570 now since the new gen should be coming out end of year. That and I love my 560.

But all looks good.

Thanks folks, I've ordered it =]

Doesn't bother me that new cards are coming out later this year, they're always coming out! I can put this 570 into another box as well if I really want to.

Not true. See "Do Antivirus Suites Impact Your PC's Performance?" on Tom's Hardware.

Current gen processors are massively over powered for anything other than huge image manipulation, constant video trans-coding, finding the Higgs boson etc. An i5 will last you for years.
