Topic: Internode Offers "True" Terabyte Plan

Internode have just announced they're joining iiNet in offering one terabyte of downloads in their latest round of plans - though they're throwing down the gauntlet by calling it the "first true terabyte broadband plan", by virtue of the fact that it is not separated into peak and off-peak:
Taking a lead from the over-size T-shirt shelf, Internode's 1000 gigabyte (GB) XXL Easy Broadband ADSL2+ service drapes its customers in a true one-terabyte data quota plan, costing $149.95 a month when bundled with NodeLine telephone service.

In a generous overhaul, Internode has doubled the data quota of its popular Easy Broadband plan ($49.95 bundled) from 50 GB to 100 GB per month and introduced 200GB ($69.95 bundled) and 300GB ($89.95 bundled) plans - dubbed respectively S, M and L. For customers with big data appetites, Internode provides the 600GB XL plan for $99.95 (bundled) as well as the true-terabyte XXL plan.
Check out the full announcement for more details about the latest plan changes.

I got real excited -- until I read it was for everyone except those on Hellstra ports.

I'm lucky to get 250k/s. If I was renting I'd move, but I'm now anchored down by a mortgage.

I would have got excited if they were sincere in offering this as a great service to their customers instead of a knee-jerk response to competition. If they can suddenly do this now, why didn't they before kinda thing.

Tell me about it. I'm stuck on a telstra port and the only cost effective plans I can get are ADSL1 plans. But I think I might make the switch to Internode now as I average about 100gig a month and for $50 bundled, it's win win!

Looks like Internode is finally becoming affordable. Their 240GB plan is pretty tempting.

If you're truely stuck on a tel$tra port (ie, there are no optus ports etc) then you won't get these prices. You will get 50GB for $50.

How do you get 100GB on node for $50 a month while on a telstra port? I'm paying $140 a month and would have ditched already for Telstra's much cheaper plans if it wasn't for their 2 year contracts.

f***in telstra and there f***ing s*** lines making even simple built up areas unable to get any decent sort of internet.

Something I received from telstra the other day -

Dear ####,

Thanks to some recent network upgrades, you could now get even more speed out of your BigPond Elite Cable Broadband plan. The network can now provide speeds up to a maximum of 30 Mbps* (depending on the content you are downloading) – almost double the old 17Mbps maximum.

Getting the speed upgrade is easy. Simply switch off your modem, wait a minute or so, then switch it on again. When it reboots it will automatically access the faster network speeds.

There are just a couple of things to be aware of:

• If you have a Wi-Fi modem, you’ll get the optimum performance when connecting with an Ethernet cable (a yellow cable was supplied with your modem) rather than the Wi-Fi connection.

• Not all Cable modems are compatible with 30Mbps speeds. To check a list of compatible modems, please click here.

If you’d like to know more about this speed increase, visit BigPond.com.

Yours sincerely

That's funny, because here I was getting a warm fuzzy about market competition driving prices down.

I have no clue what type of port i'm on but i'm guessing telstra. So it looks like internode will lose my business and iinet will gain it, because i'm stick of paying $140 a month for 100gb. f*** them.

$70 for adsl1 unlimited, with only 1500 speed. I'm getting 8000 atm so that doesn't really suit me.

Is that sarcasm? AFAIK Internode don't even bother to forward those stupid MPAA requests on to their users. They almost certainly do not bother logging anything else that you do; there's no obligation to do so (unless relevant authorties have issued a warrant for you and they're tapping your service, in which case you're already f***ed, but there's almost no chance that is happening to anyone for something as lame as copyright infringement).

And if you use Usenet, there's (apparently) no logging done at all on the Usenet servers. See item #9, http://www.news.astraweb.com/privacy.html .

That's like asking why didn't iinet or tpg come out with the same plans when they first launched...

f*** yeah, Internode still giving best value for buck to their customers.

Been with them for over 4 years now and love it. My only gripe was how long it took to get the naked line installed (6 weeks!) and that the naked plans take a while to get updated (not a main plan)

Internode seem to be the place you go to if you are lucky enough to be in an ADSL2 area. They have seemingly given up on 1.

I'm so confused with internode plans atm. I'm not evne sure I'm part of this new quota bump or not and the website is really not helping. Are these plans in force come next rollover or is it just announcing their intentions?

I'm on the Easy Naked plan ($59.95 for 70gig ups+downs) does anyone know if i'm getting any love? I'm on optus lines :(

A mate of mine would love this. Except he can't get anything like that. Moved in to a new apartment (for him anyway) in Melbourne (close to the CBD) and has been told because of telstras s***ty lines the best he can get is ... Dialup! I had to laugh at him.

Telstra have told him they can fix the lines but won't unless he lodges all sorts of claims with His potential ISP. The techy who looked at the lines said its an easy fix but he can't do it as he isn't a bigpond user.

I never got that email and, if anything, my internet has been a s***load slower than usual the past few days. Usually when I'm capped I can load QGL just as if I wasn't capped but at the moment I'm uncapped and still even QGL times out sometimes. What the hell are you doing telstra? Your internet is already s***, stop making it s***ter.

I can't WAIT until September when my internet plan runs out....$120 a month for 50gig "8000mps" ADSL1 with line rental.....stupid phone lines. It's ok for downloads ie around 700kb, however it loses packets left right and centre which makes browsing a chore. 3 months after I signed up telstra dropped their cable plans which would be better value and faster! RE new plans/Easy Broadband on Telstra..

They were doing adsl2 on Telstra ports for a while with easy bb which was great, they have ceased new installations until the outcome of the group ACCC action is known after Bigponds last round of plans made it impossible to supply an ADSL2 port on Telstra Wholesale at the same price as Bigpond was selling it for retail.

this might actually be exciting if it didn't exclude the those on telstra ports, which is most of us :(

Bigpond is a lot better than it used to be, they still count uploads and still aren't the cheapest but they have much more competitive plans now.
