This isn't an appropriate title for the 7 day returns policy (in theory at least)... you've gotta register it online...

but srsly, once you've loaded it, and had a bit of a look around ingame... you won't return it... esp if you only paid $69

As a person who's not overly phased about StarCraft, but generally buys the *really* big name games, should I bother with SC2?

If you're not phased about the original, why buy the sequel just because it's a big name? It's like trog going to watch Avatar 2..

PS: EB @ Swanston Street price matched JB for $69 - the guy didn't even flinch, I just said "Do you guys price match" and he said "Yep so it's now $69 for you"

Competition, every store wants a slice of the Starcraft 2 Pie so they charge as little as possible for it.

also expansions.. this title is bound to have legs - 2-3 expansions + map packs etc etc

They're not doing expansions though, they're releasing three separate games remember.

Also, I can't imagine JB would see one game as a big profit for their company, if they undercut people they get more people through the doors walking past those $4000 TV's, new computers, the bargain bin of DVD's and CD's etc etc.

Yeah, me and Tanaka got it from EB today for $69. The chicky babe said they'll match the price if JB still had stock. We just said they did and she was fine. f***s me if JB still had copies left. LOL

Waiting at JB at the moment, about to snag a copy for $55. I'm still not quite sure why I'm here, I don't even play RTS. Just vertigo sucked into the hype, I guess.

EDIT: Scratch that, seems every c*** and their dog was there to buy a copy for themselves and their 3 mates who couldn't be arsed even showing up, whereas those of us who actually arrived and had to wait outside for 30 minutes miss out. Awesome, f***ing waste of my time.

I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition months ago for $147. Got delivery of it on morning of launch day :-) Not even in to Starcraft, guess I got sucked in to the hype and awesome CG cutscenes.

Hey, does anyone know if there's a way to identify what region my copy is from without opening it? Bought it from Dick Smith and there's no code or anything indicating the region, only 7283630 which doesn't bring up anything on Google. Thinking of selling it.

DSE had no stock left and what was meant to be sent this week is apparently "damaged stock"

Delivery for DSE orders are next week.
f*** THAT!
But if you walk into a DSE store you can grab one for $69.95

Walked into EB and grabbed one for $69.

Gaaaay. Queen St EB is like "Yea we've gotten alot of people coming in trying to undercut with JB's/DSE, so now we only do it if they have it in stock, and we checked and DSE is out, and JB now do it for $89." Was like, f*** that s***, walked out, called up a DSE store on Gold Coast, they said "Yeah we've got it for $69, we'll hold one for you." YAY!!!

Luckily I'm moving to Brisbane today anyway, guess I'll have to pickup a copy somewhere down there. Hopefully JB at chermside (?) still sell it for $69

i was going to get EB to pricematch it because i'm not 100% if i'll like it that much and wanted the 7 day refund policy there just in case

i don't do that with every game, but i'm not 100% sure with this one

How do refunds work for games like SC2? Since the key binds to your account/email....

Yeah, a lot of the time if theres a one-use key with the game they don't give you the 7 day return policy on it anyway, I know they don't do it with any MMOs.

JB @ Chermside is $89

DSE is out of stock for unknown period of time

Both EB's & JB won't price match DSE because they know they're out of stock

Bought mine at JB HiFi in the city for $69, noticed it was marked down twice from $99.95 and $89. Asked them why and they said they were price-matching Dick Smith Electronics' price.

Meanwhile EB everywhere charges $99.95 standard unless you can get a price match out of them.

Why not support the store that actively matches competitor's prices instead of buying from EB?

EB flat out won't price match any lower than $79.

So why are people bothering by trying to get EB to price match?

You're not sticking it to them by purchasing their products, even at the price all their competitors are selling it for.

Just seems silly.

DSE at Chermside now has a RainCheck sign up saying that because of unexpected sales they cant get anymore stock until the end of August. You can pre-purchase. $69
EB had SC2 on a shelf under a sign for $69 visible from outside the store but that was for a joystick above SC2 on the shelf, nice way to draw in prospective customers. $99
JBs was i think $89
BigW Sold Out.
2nd hand games store at Chermside has the game for $99 + a T-shirt.

Hey guys!

I got my copy of Starcraft 2 from Big W Calamvale 2day!

They have FULL STOCK ON THE SHELVES!!!!!! Seems that no one has touched them at all! =D

There's around 7 copies left I think on the shelves so you better hurry!

Price: $74.96. Although its like $5 more expensive than Dick Smith's, I think I'd rather get it now than wait 2 days and HOPE for a copy.

btw guys 5000 copies are coming to Dick Smith's all around Australiain 2 days. (The guy at my local store told me). Pre-order it now if you want it cheap as the discounted $69 price may return to the full $99.95 price very soon.

For now guys, I am off to play more SC2!!!!!!!!!! CYAZ

*around Australia in 2 days

btw I advise to not bother with GAME or EB. They all sell at full price and refuse to match low prices.
Actual Quote from GAME employee:
Me: "They're selling the game at $69 at DSE and $74 at Kmart. Can you match those?"
GAME person: "No, they're too low. Sorry mate"
(I leave the store walk 100 metres down to BigW hoping for a miracle and voila! $74 SC2 copies lying in gaming section of Big W. WIN :D )

There's like gazillion copies of SC2 at my local EB's (I went to 3 EB's and they're all packed with SC2 copies albeit at full prices).

But hey, Ive got my game cheap and I hope everyone who wants a copy gets one eventually at a good price :)

As I said from the start, for me and I imagine it would be the same for other people, the reason is there isn't a JB close enough. By the time I get to JB I could have gone to EB, got back home and have installed it.

I hate EB, but I'm not buying to be loyal or to screw anyone over. I am buying to play the game.

Screw starcraft, Dark Reign for life.

f*** yeah! I loved that game, could never get part 2 to work for some reason though.
