Nintendo have sent through more word of their triumphant fight against piracy, today revealing that Authorities have seized and confiscated R4 Cards and other Nintendo-related pirate products from an importer. According to Nintendo, this is the first bust of this kind in Australia.
Video game piracy continues to be a serious problem in Australia. Nintendo attributes it to the availability of game copiers, the devices that circumvent the technical protection measures embedded in the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems that enable the play of illegal Nintendo software downloaded via the Internet. Game copiers infringe Nintendo’s trademarks and copyright and breach the "circumvention device" provisions of the Copyright Act.
Of course, this follows another more recent act on Nintendo of Australia's behalf, where a man was ordered to pay Nintendo a large sum of money for uploading portions of the game New Super Mario Bros. Wii for alleged piracy.

Having worked directly with Nintendo from the outset of my career in the games industry more than 10 years ago, I can tell you this is the most aggressive they've ever been on piracy.

meh no sympathy for anyone involved, nintendo aren't completely innocent in all of this
game developers make it increasingly difficult to aquire/play

if games were easy to aquire (ie, cheaper) and didn't rely on external auth mechanisms (Ubisoft for example) I honestly believe I'd buy more of my games
as it stands, I'll grab a game to see if I like it before buying it and more often than not I'm left bitterly disappointed but greatful that I didn't waste my money on such s*** games

I have an R4 card it makes things so much easier.

Before if i wanted to go out with my DS (Actually use it as a Protable gaming device) i would only be able to take one game, if i wanted to change games i would have to do it at home or bring along a handful of chips or a bulky case. R4 is so much easier I load up 16 games at once and can change easy.
