Here we are again, serving up another dose of fresh game releases, like so many cookies on a baking tray (I don't know where that came from; I think it was the bakery smell this morning when I went to get coffee).

This week is a big one, with BioShock 2 landing tomorrow (Feb 9) on all formats (Steam have it listed as Feb 10 though - see our Buy page for our price listings), which is followed later in the week (Feb 11) by Star Trek Online (PC), MAG (PS3) and finally Star Ocean: The Last Hope (PS3) on Feb 12.

We've been playing a lot of Mass Effect 2, Dante's Inferno, some Silent Hunter 5 and Dragon's Lair on iPhone :P

If you're a huge star trek fan, you'll probably enjoy all the star trek references, but as a game it felt pretty unfinished and a bit broken when I played it. The space stuff was great fun, the away missions and all the bits where you're running around on foot, broken and painful to play.

BioShock 2 sucks, first one was awesome, 2nd one is tiring and lame.

Can you elaborate Groganus? I have a feeling Multiplayer will be a let down, but I can imagine single player being better then the original

I'm playing star trek online. It's not a very good game imho. The novelty of the game is fun for a while, and the space combat is pretty cool. But I doubt I will be playing it past the initial free month. I would suggest waiting for a free trial if they ever decide to release one.

well my biggest whinge is that in bioshock, the big daddys were these awesome creatures to be feared, they were simple and single minded, there only goal was to protect little sister...

bioshock 2... you play a big daddy.... and big sister is now your enemy... its like terminator 3.. just when you think they have the ultimate terminator.. they create terminator 3 and its some dumb chick with a cannon for an arm or some other lame crap.. then they come up with a pretty boring storyline.. (boring in the sense that its been done before) trying to explain why the big sisters are around.

bring back the confused survivor in an environment that he's not use to...

I loved bioshock, it was a fun world to explore... this game just pisses all over the originality of the first game.

I like how you are comparing this to Terminator 3, but totally jumped over the 2nd Terminator movie?

I'd love to hear why you think this one is so bad, how much of it have you played?

events take place 10 years after the first game, there's plenty of time to contextually add elements such as a Big Sister - and remember, she's not called a Big Mumma, the clue is in the name...

Anyone want to buy bioshock one for 360 off me? Comes in a nice metal tin.

I just finished playing through the original Bioshock, whilst enjoyable I definitely don't need to play number 2.

oh and i think the concept of being a big daddy is just a piece of novel bulls***. Would of been a much better idea to maybe have a level or 2 done through the eyes of a big daddy... or maybe some downloadable content, sinces thats all the rage these days... but the whole game... a big mindless big daddy taking orders over an ear piece .... like honestly... it just makes the first game sound stupid.

but you were essentially taking orders in the first game, "would you kindly" which means that character was also something of a mindless brute

good point, however the previous game explained to me a type of character which i thought was pretty kick ass.. in fact this character is one of the biggest selling points of the first game as it also featured on the front of the box. Then they create the second game... and you are playing as this character... It's just tacky, and to me it comes across as if they didn't have a good enough reason to make a sequel so they just drummed something together that they figured the fans would go moist for...

Its just my opinion at the end of the day, i cant say that i was super excited about bioshock 2 when i first heard about it.. so maybe i was skeptical and cynic to begin with... i guess i'm just disappointed that i let the second game taint the good feeling i had with the first game.

I personally would of preferred a prequel.

yeah, I'm with you on that point Groganus, I think I preferred the idea of seeing Rapture as a dystopia that was thought to be a utopia. So I think it would have been cool to play the game at an earlier point, right around the vision failing and falling apart

Thats what the multiplayer is though apparently, its a prequel, where you play as one of the inhabitants of rapture as its starting to fall apart and the civil war is starting. Apparently it has cinematics and cutscenes and actually tells a story through the multiplayer side of things, which has me a little bit more interested in the multiplayer now than I previously was.

That does sound pretty cool khel, except for the multiplayer part.

I've outgrown playing multiplayer fps, these days the randoms i play with are just annoying, id play with friends, but finding the time to play a game with friends is alot harder then it sounds (*sigh* i miss the days of being unemployed, childless and living with my parents)
