Overclocked the q9400 to 3.6ghz and it runs great. we're living in the age of NVidia Cuda. I want my GPU to run this game. My CPU is just there to help the motherboard post, and get me to the desktop.. maybe some sound stuff too... last edited by koopz at 20:40:40 07/Feb/10 |

we're living in the age of NVidia Cuda. I'm such a nerd, I'm so excited by the prospect of making better use of a graphics card's stream processing capabilities. I'm sick of my graphics card being a lazy s***, not doing anything when I'm not playing games. There are already a few good video converters out there which will offload some of the encoding to the GPU. I can't wait for OS's and other applications to make better use of the under-utilised grunt available in modern graphics cards. I'm sorry this post didn't rhyme :( |

overclock it instead of replacing it.
Honestly nothing seems too difficult for a dualcore 3.0 (although mine is at 3.8ghz right now) and a 9800GTX. If you find something let me know, but otherwise latest games play fine at 1080p on my TV. or buy a console, cheaper and every game released is guaranteed to run fine. I can't wait for OS's and other applications to make better use of the under-utilised grunt available in modern graphics cards.Mmm yeah i get so upset seeing when my PC is running the OS and my CPU is at 0-1% and i know it could be flat 0% if it was entirely CPU. Also you know CPU uses a f***load less power than the GPU? So offloading useless things is just going to cost you more. We're talking 10's of dollars in a year. last edited by skythra at 22:20:40 07/Feb/10 |

CT, gold. I sung it to that tune that Spook posted in the weird youtubes clip (the South African). On the OP: hold out for sure. |

Well , i cant really run Badcompany 2 ... the frames are terrible.. I think the quad core is a huge part of it because my friend has a 8800gt and quad and he said he can run it alright. |

Wait for 6 core cpu, more widespread (and chipset supported) USB3 and Sata6g
3ch DDR3 and the fermi's which may start whooping ATI again :( |

My mate told me that the i7 is stupidly overpowered and overpriced at the moment he said that a quad core will be what games use for the next 2 years... is that true? |

i7 is hardly overpowered.
Your computer is fine. Don't bother upgrading unless you're really upgrading. i9 hexacore + 3ch DDR3 + SSD + Next gen video or bust. |

I'll save up and spend like 2,000 on a brand new one towards the end of the year, maybe Christmas :) |
