well the cop was pretty fat... no way could he keep up with a fit 14yo if she was running, unless he tasered her in the back of the head! ;p heh.

pretty sure you are meant to stop when i cop tells you toPretty sure tasers are a non-lethal alternative to using your firearm and only to be used in that situation, not a compliance tool. So do you agree that if a police officer tells you to stop he can shoot you in the back? |

was that some kind of freak malfunction that it went through her skull? it seems like this wouldn't be such a huge drama if the prongs had just gone into her limbs and she'd been rendered unconscious without the head injury

so the cop had exhausted all other alternatives before tasering her? no who's life was in danger if he just let her run off? no ones what good was accomplished by tasering her? none great police work. |

lol thermite lets see who you call when some1 has broken into your house, car, bashed u, bashed your mates, stolen your wallet, sexually assaulted u etc etc
if all cops are liars why would you want their help? its one of the first people you would call... i pretty sure america has different laws to us as any peanut is aware of and due to the gun culture in america im sure that the 14yo was 2 secs away from pulling an uzi on the cop it was fully justified ... lol |

This wouldn't have happened if she was packing heat. exactly, she could have defended herself from "the man", pulled her gun, gotten shot and killed and everybody would be happy. Tazers are a good alternative to guns though, it just seems they get used in alot of situations when a gun would have never been used, just cause its easier than trying to do something else, or u get a bad cop on a power trip. |

If the police reasonably suspect you have committed an offence they can attempt to arrest you. Running away = avoiding arrest = further offence.
I'm with Xaltd. stop with the children excuse, at 14 you should listen to authority, not run from it. |

that's a seperate issue. I was commenting on that the police had authority to:-
a) command her to stop; and b) arrest her. The reasonable force is a seperate issue. However if she had stopped when commanded to, this would never have happened. |

Ok she should have stopped but pulling out the taser because she didn't is not reasonable.

I was commenting on that the police had authority to:- wut? she is taken to the police station by her mum for a talking to, not for committing any crime and she runs away because she is scared, doesn't want to be there and now the police have the authority to arrest her and command her? police don't have any such rights and arrest without cause is an offense. |

that's a matter for the local laws. The threshold might be small. Especially considering it can be termed as an offence in progress. the crazy americans might allow you to shoot for that.

see, here i am arguing common sense and there you are arguing laws that may exist but you have no real knowledge of.
police will let you believe you have to comply with any directive they give but that is just social engineering. their actual powers are limited and defined but people will comply with their directives because they are considered authority figures in our society. while im no criminal lawyer or anti-world order pinko i do believe like in all sections of society there are good and bad police out there. police that do abuse the powers that society has assigned them and for that reason, we shouldn't enable them by just believing they have the rights to do whatever. last edited by ara at 12:10:55 20/Aug/09 |

What if she was eating a baby at the time? That reminded me! Check this s*** out: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dd/Rubens_saturn.jpg/281px-Rubens_saturn.jpg Cronus the Titan eating his son Poseidon who eventually became one of the Twelve Olympians when Zeus f***ed up Cronus. This is serious Renaissance art too by Rubens! And we think religion is wacky today... |

lol thermite lets see who you call when some1 has broken into your house, car, bashed u, bashed your mates, stolen your wallet, sexually assaulted u etc etc err.. been there, done that, cops didn't help one bit. I no longer report crimes, it's useless. The police in QLD are lazy morons. They're not like the ones you get taught about in school. I have caught them lying to me on several occasions to get their way. They break the law when it suits them. They make themselves the enemy. I simply do not see the QLD police as a legitimate authority because of all that. The only power they have is the threat of lethal force and consuming your time with legal processes. Which is f***ed. They don't earn any respect for themselves. last edited by thermite at 12:37:28 20/Aug/09 |
