The iPhone OS 3.0 firmware is just around the corner, but you may not want to upgrade just yet. Did you know there is already a way to use your iPhone as a wireless router (known as "tethering"), or play music on your iPhone without using iTunes? Our latest article explores jailbreaking: what it is, how you do it, and what software you can run. AusGamers Guide to Jailbreaking |

I JB'd my iPhone for a while but noticed it started getting slower and slower and slower and slower and slower and slowe.. you get the idea. After going back to the original firmware I haven't noticed any problems and the features I used in JB weren't that important at the end of the day or out came certified Apps.
Also a tip for the young players out there - PDANet won't let you browse HTTPS sites. But if you go click on the "purchase full version" page it redirects you to a HTTPS page and suddenly you can access HTTPS pages. |

I also found jailbreaking made my iphone get slower. I restored. Upgrading to 3.0 made it even faster! |

Which... you can now (well in 2 days) do with the firmware itself.

Great.. I can tether with Optus but only if I stand still, arm raised up in the arm while standing on phone foot and having to lean out the window because their 3G reception is so AWESOME!

Haha, I've been noticing just how crap either the iPhone or Optarse are lately more and more. Had to repeat myself 3 times telling someone (Ticles mother) my address this morning. Edit: Oh, and on-topic. I never really saw the point in JBing my phone. Would be OK to use homebrew and other free software but most of the stuff I've bought is $1.19 so meh. |

Great article, but the pedant in me is forcing me to point out that the Flashlight iPhone app *does* have a brightness control. Just slide your finger up and down the screen. ;) |
