Almost immediately after Nintendo's press conference we were whisked off to Sony's massive party. They had an incredibly massive screen to show off their wares, which SCE President and CEO Jack Tretton used to push the system's 1080p native angle, and really drive hom how much of a powerhouse it is.

A tonne of stuff was revealed and shown here, so I'll be posting it all in note form, but stay tuned for a full run-down and analysis later on.
  • This year alone, across all of Sony's platforms, there are 364 games being released
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves looks ridiculous in that, it's ridiculous a game can look this good and pack so much cinematic action
  • A demo of MAG was shown showcasing the 256-player online skirmish potential. This could really boost console online gaming through the roof
  • A revamped PSP was revealed: PSP Go which features a slide screen (with controls underneath), 16g of internal flash memory, Bluetooth, WiFi and a native video delivery service. It's 50% smaller than the current PSP and 40% lighter. Due on October 1st in the US for US$249 - we'll try and find out Aussie specifics for you asap. But damn, it looks sexy
  • Details for Gran Turismo PSP were revealed such as more than 800 cars, 35 tracks and 60 variations of those tracks. Adhoc 4-player multiplayer and the ability to swap cars with other players all make for good news. The short trailer we saw looked very nice, though it's not known if we were looking at in-game stuff
  • Hideo Kojima came out and introduced us to what he called the "true sequel" to the Metal Gear universe. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set 10 years after MGS 3 (so the 70s) and is being penned by Kojima himself. He couldn't reiterate enough that this is a full MGS experience and should not be considered a side-story just because of his choice of platform. It looks pretty cool
  • Resident Evil Portable was revealed to be in the works for PSP, due in 2010
  • Currently there are 24 million users signed up to the PlayStation Network and through the service some 475 million downloads have occurred (how many of those are required system updates ;). There are 90 exclusive titles now available and 50 planned PSOne classics, beginning today (in the US at least) with Final Fantasy 7. We'll find out what's in store for Aussie users shortly
  • Rockstar dropped a PS3 exclusive out of nowhere called Agent, which is being developed by Rockstar North. Nothing was shown though
  • Final Fantasy 14 was shown right after FF13, but will be a full online MMO and is also exclusive to PS3
  • Not to be outdone by Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus or Microsoft's Project Natal, a very early prototype of their own motion-sensor tech was shown, which I have to admit looked pretty amazing. Using the PlayStation Eye, a special wand (ala Wii Remote) is used as a controller while the PSE tracks your movements. Everything shown was completely in real-time with full 1:1 movement tracking. I'll talk more about this in my in depth write-up
  • ModNation Racers was revealed which is essentially LittleBigPlanet in the kart-racing genre, so it's all about user-generated content
  • We saw a teaser for Gran Turismo 5 (no release date though) which includes Nascar and WRC modes
  • Project Trico is now called The Last Guardian and looks spectacular
  • And finally we saw the opening to God Of War III (gameplay), which is easily three times more brutal than the last game (and looks awesome as well)
That's all we have time for at the moment, but stay tuned because the news is really going to start rolling out as Dan and I attack the show floor with vigour.

I just hope the PSP GO has "DUEL ANALOGUE"... If they don't bring that to the PSP they have failed massively. But I think they will have listened to their customer base because they cant afford to screw up this time around Otherwise it sounds sweet

Hmmm Keeping my eyes peeled for this motion sensing thing (even if it does look like a dildo :) )

Wooohoooo MAG ...cant wait to hear more

There is no dual analogue for the PSP Go, makes sense considering game development would then be split between the existing PSP versions and Go.
Good time to own both the PSP and PS3! (which I do)

No PS3 price drop either. They're really sticking to their guns on this one.

I hope you can hold the PSP Go and comfortably use the controls. I've got an original PSP and using the analogue "nub" is just horrible.

Why what? Is it only on the PSP or some s***?

This is silly. Nintendo have integrated the motion controls (for good or bad) into their system while these a******s are making it into an accessory/addon.
