Anyone see this movie?

I got dragged to see it by my gf last night expecting some lame kid's movie, but what i got was a funny (not hilarious, but funny none the less) movie with the main character being voiced by Jerry Seinfeld.

If you're looking to see a decent movie where no thought is required, and you like Seinfeld, i would recommend this.

While we're on the subject of movies, has anyone been to Chermside cinemas lately (this could apply to other Birch cinemas by now, not sure)? They now have allocated seating - as in you buy your ticket, and you are assigned a specific seat. On the surface it seems like a good idea, but i think its for the worse.

I thought that was only for Beowulf 3D when I saw it. The stupid thing was, my allocated seat was up in the corner on the edge, yet the cinema was maybe 15% full so I just ended up moving to the center/back row after I realised how f***ing stupid this system was.

I went to Mr Gravatt Megaplex the other day and they had allocated seating signs up.

allocated seating rocks. it makes booking tickets via the net so much better. you pick you seat, turn up 5 minutes before the movie starts and get a good seat.

none of this lining up and then there is a mad rush when the cinema doors open.

why don't you like allocated seating?

...because fat lazy c***s order tickets from home then turn up late and still get good seats.

f***ed system, I predict many fights arising from this stupid system... I know I'm not moving for anyone if I get the seat before them, this will probably result in them getting the usher to move me along, which will result in me throwing s*** at them for the entire movie.

Yes I'm a social parasite.

But if some f***er is sitting in your seat, are you gonna ask them to get up and move ? You dont actually get ushered to your seat do you? If not than this is gonna be a waste of time!!!

I was under the assumption allocated seating meant you were told where to sit, not that you could choose where you sit.

chub, i would get you thrown out or smack you up Californication stylez. it is your dumb fault for not booking online or buying your ticket early enough to get a good seat.

snakeman, yeah i would.

kat, you pick the location on the net. even if you buy it in the cinema you can ask for specific areas.

lol, sif.

If some internet douche tried to get me thrown out, I would probably just dump my entire megasized coke on them then piss bolt... go see it at another cinema... I can waste a ticket based on principle and to ruin their day.

Anyway, enough Chub derailing, I usually only go Gold Class :)

I can see it's benefits for booking online, but TBH when i go to the movies i don't really know what time im getting there / what im gonna see, so booking isn't an option for some people.

Its retarded because:
1) What if you end up behind some tall mofo (yes you can probably move, but then you have to worry about someone getting assigned the seats you move too)
2) When you line up and buy tickets, you dont really get to pick where - they just ask you to pick front/middle/back. This means you can get put to the side etc. when you would rather sit elsewhere
3) Have to waste time counting out your seat

It has *some* small benefits but its too f***ing stupid imo.

LOL

1) you can move unless the cinema is full, in which case you wouldn't be able to move in either senario.
2) you can be more specific if you want. you just have to ask.
3) counting seats? they are all labeled and there is even a map as you walk into the cinema if you are a total newb.

benifits
1) makes buying online heaps better.
2) means you don't have to line up before the movie starts to get a good seat
3) means you can sit exactly where you want
4) means you can make sure if you go with a group of friends you can all sit together.

Here's how it breaks down.

a) It advantages people that book over the net in EVERY single way.
b) It disadvantages people that turn up in person in EVERY single way.

There is absolutely ZERO benefit to people that turn up and buy their tickets and 100% benefit to people that buy over the internet.

To me that's f***ing stupid and not fair, don't you need a CC to buy tickets over the net?

2, 3, 4 apply to everyone.

f*** queuing to buy tickets at the cinema and then having to queue up before the movie starts to get a good seat. queue once and be done with it.

Agreed with eighty-eight

Why go to the movies when I've got hi-def at home with awesome sound. Plus you don't get dips***s talking thru-out it either which is the reason I don't go to the movies anymore.

I remember when I was in Grade 7 and the whole class went to see Jaws for school breakup. (Yes they had cinemas in those days.) They also had allocated seating back then and no one complained about it. You just had to get there early to get the seats up the back coz I'm sure they filled back to front in those days.

Nah it doesn't. Instead of rocking up early and standing in a queue to get a good seat, you just rock up early and buy your ticket then walk into the movie whenever you want, assured in the knowledge you have a good seat. I thought allocated seating was pretty weird when I first moved down here, but now, I think its a much better system. I can go buy my tickets, then go get something to eat or have a couple of beers and not have to care about lining up for the movie. Even if I turn up a bit late when the trailers and stuff are already on, it doesn't matter, I still have my seat.

allocated seating is good for sell out sessions I reckon.

only problem is sell out sessions would comprise maybe 5% of the total number of movie session imo

Even if its not a sell out session, you still guarantee you're gonna get a good seat. I dunno about Sydney, but down here the cinemas always try and put you in the best spot still available (not just some randomly allocated seat), and if you're REALLY picky you can even pick your own spot.
