Desktop Support Officer

Let the games begin!!!!!

We are one of the world’s largest, most successful independent video game developers, and are seeking a unique individual to play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day IT needs of our talented team at our Fortitude Valley, Brisbane studio.

In your new role, you will be reporting to our IT Manager and responsible for basic user support and system maintenance. Given the nature of video game development, our IT team’s customer service levels are very high and your commitment to maintaining this level of service is paramount. No two days are ever the same at Pandemic Studios and it will be your flexibility and adaptability which will ensure your success in this challenging role.

You must have:

• A proficient level of knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures relating to desktop support
• Extensive troubleshooting experience with hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
• Experience troubleshooting Windows 2003/XP and Office 2003/XP
• Trend-Micro AV or similar Antivirus products
• Disk imaging experience, such as PowerQuest Disk Image Pro or Symantec Ghost
• Experience performing basic system backups and recovery.

You will also have had experience with:

• Working in a fast paced working environment
• Working for a medium to large size company
• Working in a fast growing organization.


To stand out from the crowd, its highly desirable that you have:

• A+, MCSA or any other relevant certifications
• Experience with Nortel, NEC, or other PBX systems – basic add/remove features, experience with Asterisk VoIP PBX a definite plus.
• Client and Server-based antivirus software experience
• Practical experience and knowledge of Windows 2000 and 2003 Servers
• System and network online/offline backups experience
• Hands-on experience with Exchange 2000 and Active Directory
• Solid understanding of network topologies
• Experience with Linux and/or FreeBSD along with products like Apache, Samba, Squid, ProFTPd.

• Highly organised with attention to detail and strong time management skills
• An effective communicator with employees at all levels
• Strongly customer service focused and known for your happy demeanor
• A proactive self starter with a demonstrated high work output
• Able to display a high level of confidentiality
• Able to juggle multiple tasks and keep your cool
• Someone with a ‘can-do’ and very positive attitude
• A team player yet able to work autonomously
• Flexible and adaptable

Your hours:

You will be expected to work a flexible hours roster at the IT Manager’s discretion, completing 8 hours plus lunch between the hours of 8am and 7pm. Some overtime may be required (examples – social functions, meeting contractors on the weekend, performing work to servers, rostered on call, possible travel etc).

also, what ballpark salary are we talking about?

Permenant position? part time? casual?

Im currently working QA for creative assembly (thanks draxy) and would like to move into something more permenant.

Yes, that him... he used to run some lans down here in Melbourne with me for a while. He still comes down here every christmas so it's always cool to catch up with him. He won't know me by the nick in this forum but drop the name spectre and he'll know who I am straight away :)
