C'mon trog, you're slipping - I had to start the annual thread..
Awesome game so far. Seattle looking the goods in the first quarter. The ads rock too! |

I'd say its more even than your making out so far. The only score on the board is a field goal to Seattle and the Steelers are making good inroads on the physical defence. Steelers will need to get the offence together if they are going to be a real chance though.

Man, nasty crunch on that Steeler player there..
Hassleback's doing his job nicely. Shaun Alexander yet to make an impact of a person who did 1800+ yds in a season.. f*** these commercials are awesome! |

Damn, I just wished they'd taken the field goal option when they were closer instead of trying the long pass to goal...

Pretty good game so far; I had to bail @ half time though :( That touchdown was awesome, both from offensive and defensive perspectives - great dive by the QB but awesome attempt from the defensive guy to try and stop him. He really only just made it by like an inch or something.

i used to love gridiron, even went along to training sessions in brisbane and would have played if costs werent so prohibitive (like 500 bux a season to a povo uni student, may as well be a million)
but god damn its hard to watch on tv; soooooooo schloooooooow superbowls actually put me off gridiron, coz they show the whole thing used to be awesome with don lane on tuesday nites on abc, lots of highlights and a cut down game, much better way to watch; would be even worse live :( let alone playing, geez, who would want to be a punter? not me, talk about taking the fun out of sport australian footy > american footy |

I played gridiron for 6 seasons here in Bris. I love the game. I've made lifetime friends from the game. It is very full on but I agree, its not for everyone.

I played for a single season in Brisbane. I'd played Union and League before, but American Football was way more intense and full on. It doesn't take long to realise that the pads are only there to let the tacklers tackle harder, not to protect the person being tackled.
Heck, I remember one time I hit a quarterback so hard that I had a bruise the covered my entire left shoulder and the upper half of my left arm, and I was wearing linesmans pads. I hit that poor mother f***er right in the stomach with my helmet too ... I'd hate to have been him :( |

I trained several years ago, but unfortunatly had to give it up before the season started, work came first. Damn was fun though. My brother was pretty hardcore about it, he played several seasons.

Just finished watching it. I dvd recorded it today and man well...Randall L for champ...what a bloody awesome play that was. The ol' swtich, run arround and get a receiver (who was a college qrt back) to throw a perfect pass on the run to Ward. good stuff.
I had the pleasure of being at Candle Stick park in '89 to watch the 49ers V the New York Giants in the NFC playboff. Mate of mine at the time from SF had these 'family owned' tickets. 50 yrd line on the 49ers bench...man the wife and I had better seats than Jerry Rice's wife!! Watched the great Joe Montana throw some awesome s*** that night too. |
