Does it say anywhere that it actually uses the Q3 engine? Everyone seems to be assuming it does, but I haven't seen any reports that it does and its not mentioned in the press release at all...

interview

GD: You're using the Jedi Knight II game engine. What enhancements have you given to the engine for the new game?

JZ: We've enhanced GHOUL 2, which is our modelling and animation system, to allow for the character creation system, color choices and options. We ported over the Arioche terrain system from Soldier of Fortune 2, which allows for expansive terrain environments. We've done an update in ICARUS, which is our in-house scripting system. It allows us to do just a little bit more than we did in the past. The saber system is enhanced; it's basically the same as the Jedi Knight 2 engine, but we've added new moves and enhancements. We've tried to make a lot of the game friendlier to the mod community.
The first thing people did when JK2 came out was create their own sabers and their own characters. It was a lot easier to do that in multiplayer than single-player, so now we've made it easier for single-player. Now you can just drag it into a folder or update a file and you'll be good to go.

GD: Were you surprised by the modding community's reaction to Jedi Knight 2?

JZ: I don't think we were surprised; it's a Quake engine game, so people know what they're doing. People are familiar with modding that game.

characters look better. basically the same engine really. probably same saber physics. hopefully they bring bs back in. and now you dont have to cheat to get double sabers :D it's probably got a few things in there from jedi plus mod. i wouldnt be suprized at all.. another thing im hoping it will have it model scaling (yoda - tiny, desan = huge) things like that..... because in jk2 everyone was the same size, kind of dumb really..

dumb to look at maybe...
Until you think that in multiplayer everyone would use yoda because he is tiny.

To me, this seems cool. The singleplayer premise seems alot better. Design your own character, start at the academy etc. Just a straight story, no wierd s***.

Hehe

Speaking of glowsticks, check out the front page of today's Courier Mail. The navy chick on the front has one in her shoulder pocket.
