Jedi Knight 3, the sequel to the sequel to the sequel; which should technically make it the fourth, but who's counting. GameStar.de, Germany's premiere Gaming Magazine, posts next month's cover, which has a big ol Twi'lek on the cover with a Lightsaber and the title Jedi Knight III.

Here's whats known:
No Kyle, you can choose between several of his students to play [among them a Twi'lek]
Non-linear levels - pick your own missions
bigger battles [several screenies where 6-7 jedi let it loose]
More emphasis on the saber
Screenshots, courtesy of JediKnightII.net
Fall 2003 Release, currently. Don't expect this game until Early spring looking at LA current track record ;)
Thanks to TFN. promoted forum item

No Don Burke eh? Aww.

I'm sure they'll still have the awesome cutscenes (kyle kissing whats her name for example) that put even home and away to shame. Not to mention the thought provocing puzzles such as, which crate to blow up to reveal a secret passage because the most obvious path is blocked by a locked door.

I'm over the Star Wars FPS for now. They're all the same. Most of the levels just don't make me feel like I'm in the Star Wars universe. However I wouldn't mind playing the original Dark Forces again only with nice graphics.

true, they need more story lines from in the movies. like one where you're one of the bothan spies that stole the plans to the second death star

According to the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight storyline, it was Kyle Katarn that stole the plans for the deathstar...

Is it true? After reading comments on various sites no one can atest to these actually being real.

personally, I liked the the first jedi knight the best (dark forces 2). Lightsabre battles were simple, but I just found the whole game much more star warsy.

I found the jedi knight series very fun, until they boggled up the multiplayer balance. Give me decent netcode and a fairly balanced game and I for one will be playing this.

How is it technically the 4th?

The first game in the series was called Dark Forces, it wasnt until #2 that the Jedi Knight title was introduced.

Was there even a light sabre in DF? .. Kyle certainly wasnt a Jedi Knight anyway.

lets just hope they learn from their JK2 mistakes and

a) make the ultimate saber moves almost impossible to pull off with some sort of imposed delay to avoid spamming

b) guns < saber < force ALWAYS

c) make it harder to use the force, really it was too easy previously

Wait, a game, based on Star Wars ... A cash in.

Surely you jest!

George Lucas and Lucasarts would never capitalise on such a situation! I know it in my heart.

Agreed. The more new characters they add the less it feels like the Star Wars universe. Get rid of Kyle for a start, he sucks.

even if it was these fag jedis from the prequals with like punk haircuts and tight 3/4 pants, at least they were in the movie

Reportedly, some force abilities and attacks can even be used in conjunction with others, on an almost two-fisted akimbo basis. Chop and perform a force function at one time, or perform two force functions at once. It's your choice. It's unclear how this will ultimately play out, but Gamestar cites being able to throw one saber while continually playing with another... Perhaps a two-handed combat system similar to F.A.K.K. 2 is being considered?

http://pc.ign.com/articles/391/391590p1.html?fromint=1

The timing of this release has had fans speculating that this is an elaborate April Fools Day Prank, and it does certainly seem possible. But Raven Officials and GameStar's folks have said the opposite of that. As Jeff 42, a Games Forums Member said "Raven would not go along with this if it were a joke. That would be terrible business practice." But on the other side, jp-30 counters with "The real odd thing for me is that the release of this game will conflict with the marketing for Galaxies and KOTOR, which is mighty strange."
