Codemasters sends word of their upcoming World War 2 real time strategy game, Battlefield Command:
Battlefield Command (BC) is a tactical real time strategy game form the Russian developer 1c and will launch worldwide in spring 2004. It will be available on PC format only.

It is an incredibly detailed game which covers the majority of key battles in Europe from the invasion of Poland and France in 1939-40 through to the war on the Eastern front and the D-Day landings to the fall of Germany in 1945. Players can choose to either play as Allied or Axis armies chosen from 10 nationalities including American, British, Russian, French and German.
Check out the official site for a closer look. Some screenshots are available showing off some of the pretty visuals.

Meanwhile, while war games are selling well in some places, Blue's News is reporting that they're not doing so well in Germany, with Command and Conquer: Generals being placed on their infamous index list of banned titles.

You will find that most those countries actual ban allot of games that have war elements in them, look what happened to wolf and MOH: AA didn't even get a foot in the door.

Just goes to show how the sensitive they are to the whole issue of war in that pocket of the world from past experiences.

Germany is very serious in its gaming and movie laws. Anything even looking like a R rating is bannded.

Well it's a good thing this isn't just a rip off of Battlefield 1942, where they take all of the big attractions from the original game, stick them all together with the idea that if it worked for them it'll work for us too. Then having the game flop completely because it left out all of the little things that made Battlefield 1942 so f***ing awesome.

OH WAIT! IT IS!
